2018 Toronto FanExpo 30 Aug-2 Sep

aHahahahahah!!!! I just got an e-mail excitedly advising me that none other than the Shat will be in attendance at this year's Toronto FanExpo! https://www.fanexpocanada.com/en/guests/celebrities/william-shatner.html The e-mail described Shatner as "Canadian Sci-Fi Royalty"... which is as may be, bu...

Season Two Clue

Tragically, no Jason inclusion, but Himself just tweeted about this: http://variety.com/2018/tv/news/star-trek-discovery-season-2-captain-pike-anson-mount-1202743293/amp/ (Casting announcement of Capt. Pike. Is it just my imagination, or was that really fast?? I thought there weee a few more years b...

OT: Meowseph Stalin the Cat

This hasn't anything to do with the movie, but I thought Marie might find it amusing: the Instagram account of a cat with Uncle Joe's mustache.

Re: DVD release

"Paralysis" is an excellent word to use. In a heartbreaking fashion, the movie really illuminates the depth of Stalin's oppression--people so internalized it that it shriveled all their emotional experiences. But I laughed and laughed. The pacing and editing was brilliant. I'll have to see it again-...

Re: New trailer

Servalan, I checked the BAFTA winners yesterday--was Himself in attendance? (I was a little surprised to see what did win--"Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri." It hasn't been overwhelmingly popular here, and there aren't many Brits in evidence in the film... It's (obviously) set in the U.S.,...

Re: L-triptophans still keeping this board quiet . . .

And I think we're partly the victim of internet evolution--(puts on geezer hat) when we first started up, there simply weren't a lot of alternatives, either for information or interaction. Nowadays, there are options galore, and some people may have started off on a platform like reddit or Facebook ...

I so so hope that this avalanche produces a sea change in society--the number of "me too"s surrounding us all is TOO DAMNED HIGH. BASTA!

Marie, thanks for that heads-up.
I'll tolerate a lot in my post-apocalyptic nihilistic entertainment franchises, but THAT AGGRESSION WILL NOT STAND. :bawl :bawl :bawl

Re: Full Size Jason!!11

You guys didn't include the link!!! https://shop.startrek.com/product/Z1CMSTK115/star-trek-lorca-standee (I'd dispute the "full-size description"--it's 71" tall, and that includes some foreshortened boot. Himself is a little over six feet, so somebody was scrimping a little.) Wonder how much shippin...

Re: Reviews

Thanks, Servalan--I too am really hoping to see this in our local "vintage theatre"--the bigger the Jason, the better! (or something--oh dear)
I'm with Marie though in appreciating closed captioning more and more--not too proud to admit that I rely on it often.

Re: After Trek

Thanks for commiseration, ladies! What we ended up doing for the show itself was hook DH's laptop to receiver via HDMI cord (don't ask me to explain any of that). But--we're only using a single cord, which is maybe the issue?--we had to fuck about with the damned audio for ten minutes before we coul...
