Re: After Trek

I AM SO FRUSTRATED!!! Been traveling etc. and didn't make an effort to see this series till there was a nice juicy lot of episodes to view. Finally signed up on my laptop. We have a big television, which my technologically inclined DH has supplemented with additional speakers etc. and comfy chairs, ...

Re: The Death of Stalin

Marie, even my husband laughed aloud and expressed enthusiasm!
I think it looks hilarious--and what a dream cast! (though, yes, my fave shot is the general dramatically swirling his cloak about his shoulders :adore )

Helen, did you ever register for a member ID in the past? :-(
I'm sorry that this one sounds so inaccessible, but maybe lurkage would be feasible...

Re: Netflix FYSEE kick-off event

I had to go rummage for a bit--it's a cute play on "FYC," for your consideration.
I guess it's 'campaigning' for Emmys? Is that permitted? Are Netflix projects eligible?
So many question. So little interest in the answers...

Re: New project: Star Trek: Discovery (CBS)

Well, that cast candid does give hope that JI may have hair... After reading the rest of this thread, I'm thinking perhaps Lorca should have a Canadian accent!! (Although, don't throw things at me, I listened to Himself on the audiobook of Case Histories , and he was of course engaging, convincing, ...

Re: New project: Star Trek: Discovery (CBS)

In the old days, we could share home-recorded disks with one another, but we're on a DVR now with no capability to do that. :-( Well, anyone who wants can come watch at my house, how's that! (Marie, I had a school friend who was such a Star Trek nerd that--pre-internet--she knew all the episodes, th...

Re: #ShowTheLove

Jason got the soccer pitch :lol I'm on the verge of hopelessness, myself... we had two Democrats vote for Trump's appointee to the Environmental Protection Agency, when the vote didn't even make a difference in approval. Like, there wouldn't have been any practical repurcussions to their standing ag...

Re: I saw it tonight (maybe some SPOILERS)

I saw it Friday with my old pal who loves movies in general, and has a penchant for weird. The theater was surprisingly full--it was a small one, but nearly sold out. Concur with most of your observations, Thunder--thought I would have pegged the inspiration material as sufficient for more than thre...

Re: OT: IMDB closing down its message boards

I'm genuinely saddened to read this.
I occasionally wandered over to get more ideas about a movie that had puzzled me, and sometimes I found real and interesting insights.
But there was a lot of rubbish too. :-(

Re: Jason's comment

I thought it was great. I thought the production values were uniformly fabulous. It genuinely surprised me more than once, and made me laugh out loud. I loved that Prairie stayed visually consistent--that is, that even when she'd been restored to her family and could see again, she retained her unfl...

Re: Interviews

Damned good question. Also what motivated French to be there?? I had a question about the books themselves: Prairie was, from a very early age, literate; but surely reading in Braille and reading printed text are wildly different mental activities. Like, the process of converting a system of symbols...
