Re: Jason's Mutant Spagetti Bolognese

The carrots.
This is so reminiscent of my husband's English recipe for lasagna. What the hell is that ingredient, and what's it doing there?? Like all the tuna-salad sandwiches in the UK--"sweet corn" is mandatory. Fucking corn in your tuna sandwich.

Re: Anyone know where this is from?

He was a camp counsellor at least one summer at a "Jewish camp" in Milford, Pennsylvania. I don't know how he would have found out about it?

Re: The Theatre of War

One thing I didn't hear discussion of (I ducked out a few minutes before the end) was WHY the affront to the gods (the murder of Oedipus's father, Laius) was such a big stinking deal, but it didn't seem to bother anyone that his wife Jocasta chucked out her own baby on the strength of a prophecy tha...

Re: The Theatre of War

I got several reminders as well, and boy was I ever grateful--I struggled like anything to figure out what time it happened!! Of course I wished to pop in and ask a question, but none of my responses were as thought-provoking and insightful as the ones from the panel and guests, so just as well I di...

Re: Good DVD

When "Good" first appeared, the concepts it considered (how does a 'decent' person morph into an enabler of Nazism?) seemed way more distant and theoretical--to me, anyway. I thought the movie (adapted from a play of the same name) did an excellent job of illustrating how weakness allowed someone wh...

Re: DVD News

We had a dog when I was a kid, and I think it never occurred to lots of people that MANY things are bad for them (e.g., onions, even cooked ones in stuff like stew). I think the main risk from mince pie would be the raisins--grapes can cause kidney failure in dogs. Weird to think that something so s...

Re: Passionada

Anniemouse, I realize that a lot of my posts to you read as "Oh I did this and I went there and Jason Isaacs and I are best friends" and I'm sorry for sounding like that! Some of these folk got a lot of history under our belts, and your reviewing older projects has prompted some reminiscing that I'm...

Re: Watched it today (Spoilers) + Screen caps

When we mentioned that connection to JI, he evinced complete ignorance (well why would you know every producer associated with your movie), and then said, well, if it's any comfort, everyone involved with that end had lost their shirts.
So.

Re: Passionada

Assembling in New Bedford for the premiere was my first Lost Girls pilgrimage, and it was amazing despite his absence! (There aren't actually very many hotels in NB, and we ended up staying in the same one as Seymour Cassell... I also remember seeing Gov. Michael Dukakis at the afterparty, which was...

Boo! Let me try it without the URL code, and you can try copy-and-pasting it. The link works for me; if it persists in noncompliance, I'm gonna guess it's a transnational access issue.
