Re: Articles and interviews
A long very good written interview with photo shoot. I don't want to say more to not spoil it for you: https://squaremile.com/culture/film-tv/jason-isaacs-interview/ Thanks to Jason Isaacs News on Twitter. This interview (much more than an interview) is really good, with some beautiful B&W photos -...

Re: Articles and interviews
I'm sure Dyan Cannon is a very nice woman, but why oh why has she had all that work done? Does she really think it makes her look better? Hollywood has a lot to answer for when it comes to the way it regards older women.

Re: Lost Girls talk about "Archie" (Spoilers)
I was shocked to learn that a wife could still be locked away on the word of her husband at that time. I knew the Victorians did it, and earlier too. It's the basis of the whole plot of The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins, a contemporary of Charles Dickens. However I did know that once people are i...

Re: Lost Girls talk about "Archie" (Spoilers)
Back to Cary Grant, I have been wondering how hard it is to be nice to people in a normal way if just about everyone is either awful to you, or puts you on a pedestal and thinks you are great. They say "you can't be what you can't see". As a child Archie had a father and grandmother who both seemed ...

Re: Lost Girls talk about "Archie" (Spoilers)
Everyone is different though, and you were dealing with teenagers, not adults, plus they are not film stars. The difference between them and Cary Grant is big in various ways: the time and place, the society he came from and lived in later, his age. Plus there is the "Hollywood effect". We all know ...

Re: Lost Girls talk about "Archie" (Spoilers)
We also need to remember, to Archie's defense, that at the time only therapies available were LSD, electroshock or lobothomy. Se definitely not much of a "good" therapy we think of today. :D Yes, I am very suspicious of Cary's psychiatrist's methods. But I suppose the use of LSD was in its infancy ...

Re: Lost Girls talk about "Archie" (Spoilers)
I have just finished watching the last part. I watched it all over 3 days. I feel a bit disappointed - not in Jason but the whole thing. It's very difficult to put my finger on why. Good things: the acting (everyone). Harriet Walter played Mrs Leach brilliantly. Laura is a dead ringer for Dyan at th...

Re: Articles and interviews
Thanks for the link, Thunder. That long press pack is full of information about the main people involved in the show, and Archie's life. Lots to read! It's great that Jennifer Grant and Dyan Cannon both really like Jason's portrayal of Cary Grant.

Re: Articles and interviews
I can get ITVX free, it's just online instead of terrestrial TV. Various sites say Archie will likely be shown on terrestrial ITV1 at some point, but no dates. Yes, that Twitter photo with the baby (I'm sure it's a doll!) is the same as the Radio Times one. Archie's mother is played by Harriet Walte...

Re: Articles and interviews
The Radio Times print version is a bit longer, and also slightly different in part. There are quotes about Cary/Archie from Dyan Cannon and Jennifer Grant and some background on Archie's life. The photo in the yellow shirt is also in the print version, in a sort of "trailer" for the article near the...

Re: Articles and interviews
That Guardian one is good - and explains the orangeness!
It's also interesting about Laura Aikman playing Dyan Cannon. It's a shame Cary Grant wasn't able to stay married to any of his wives.
I wonder if he changed his name officially given that his daughter's surname is Grant.

Re: Archie (Cary Grant biopic)
It's very appropriate that the first showing is in Bristol, Archie's birthplace.
Too far to go from here though!
