Thank you one and all for your kind wishes!! Check me out: I scored an iPod nano!!! Go me!
We went to see Serenity. I was very impressed. I wasn't a huge devotee of Joss Whedon and had never seen Firefly, but I thought the previews looked quite amusing.
I thought it was well written and well cast. I really enjoyed the special effects (I thought they knocked the socks offa Star Wars), and this was one of the few movies I've been to recently where it made sense to me that the protagonist just happens to have amazing martial arts skills. Ooh, and ain't Adam Baldwin a hottie when he's buffed up a bit??
And I had a lovely card from my buddy Pat. (Tell D I said thanks to her bum!!)

Glad you had a nice b-day.
We saw Serenity on Tuesday. I was disappointed & still can't figure out how it's getting the reviews it's received. I liked the few episodes I saw of Firefly, and generally adore Joss Whedon's work, but didn't think the writing was up to his usual, thought the acting was wooden (exception of Baldwin). The fighting looked just like Buffy to me (teenage girl takes on odd creatures & wins, of course).
But then, maybe it's just all the rain we've had. Brung down.

Happy Birthday (belated), Hilary!
I loved Serenity. But then I consider myself a Whedon fanatic and would watch anything he was involved with . . . .
I was disappointed they didn't have the theme song in there somewhere though (except for a few musical strains at the end).
