East Coast Snowstorm

I have a blizzard condition outside my house (VA) right now with freezing rain and snow..so far about 3-4 in. The lights keep flickering so we may lose power soon. Last ice storm we lost power for 5 days because of trees falling on power lines.

How are you guys faring?

Char, I'm not far from you, so it's the same here. Roads are treacherous. Please be careful if you must go out.

I HATE NOREASTER's...LOL

I live in the western subs of Philly....about 5 inches....just started snowing again (after a brief lull), expecting another 3 to 5 inches....

rather icy out, and they are asking folks to stay off the roads...

really bad outside...the WORST is THE W I N D ....drifting is occuring...

I know! The wind is crazyyy!
They canceled my classes today cuz of the weather. I'm glad for that, not only because I'm lazy (lol) but because I gotta take 2 buses to get there, and that's quite tedious.
I hate snowstorms.

Oh Char - i wish I could send you my generator!!!!

It's in the 40s today - which is pretty good compared to the rest of the country!!

Thanks, Marie. We do have a portable generator. I bought a couple last ice storm few years ago. One for the house and the other for the office. I wish I have the automatic one that comes on when needed though. I wouldn't know how to start/work it when Chuck is on call at the hosp.

It was definitely a necessity for you, with hurricanes and such..totally worth the investment.

I was just watching the news and can't believe how horrendous it is for the east coast....please take care, this is quite treacherous between the high winds and blowing and drifting snow....that is all Chicago Weather....be cautious ladies.

And Char, I hope you don't lose power darlin....generators are the answer though in that kind of a situation....we have had to use one as well. They are so worth having.

We have 5 inches overnight. I love the snow, especially when the satellite TV continues to work, the power stays on, and the idiot drivers stay at home!

I confess, I am enjoying a reprieve from a history test (for which I am not quite as prepared as I ought to be!) DH drove off bright and early--traffic was light because of all the school closures.

Our total is between 8 to 10 inches...it's drifting so much, they cant
get an accurate measurement.....good think it's all over, except for
the wind...thru tomorrow...

You know, that's the one thing I hate about this time of year -- unpredictable weather. Just when you think you're safe, *BAM*, winter comes along to remind you it hasn't quite left.

Stay safe, guys, and watch the roads. A flash freeze can turn wet streets into a skating rink before you even know it's happened.

I know what you mean grannybear - but occasionally they do give us a hard time about living in hurricane country!!!!

I hope everyone stays safe and warm - having been born and raised in Massachusetts I've shoveled my share of driveways. I'm chuffed that I don't have to do that anymore!!!
