What would you do on your first night in No. 10?
I probably wouldn't sleep very much; I'm hoping I'd have sex probably for the last time before the red boxes arrive.
??Red boxes??

Who would you take advice from?

Everyone, and in the end I would do what I always do - I'd do what my wife tells me to.

Aaaah, a sensible man.

He's officially got my vote. If he should ever run in my country, anyway ...

I never understood toilet attendants either, so that would probably earn my vote. :D

Okay, like, not to be a Debbie Downer or anything, but for real--you just flew your whole family to Mauritius for a holiday, and now declare that climate change is your biggest concern?? Good thing you're human, Mr. Isaacs!

(Hilary, who flew across the Atlantic to see JI in London. But I DID take the train to Providence!)

Red boxes, I've no idea what he is talking about....

As I understand it, every day the red boxes, are brought to the prime minister, as well as to the Queen, and they contain all the issues, crises, legislation, etc., for him to review, act on, etc.

Anyway, that's my Anglophile knowledge of them.

I would like people to mention my name without rolling their eyes.

Right now, when we mention his name, people pretty much scratch their heads or ask, "Who?" So, I'm waiting for the day when I won't have to say, "The actor who plays Lucius Malfoy."

Fun reading

Thank you Helen, for explaining the "red boxes"
I thought it might be something like that, but wasn't sure.. but it makes sense.

My daughter sat at my desk to use my computer and spotted the calender with Jasons picture (love the April picture) and asked "Who's that?".
I said "A delightful english actor named Jason Isaacs"
She said "never heard of him" and went back to the computer. Probably saying to herself "My mother getting nutty in her old age".
Didn't even give me a chance to describe his many acting virtues. Sigh!

He seems to be a sensible man indeed. Man might be the head of the house, but wife is the neck that turns the head.

And thanks, this was hilarious to read.

I always find it weird when people don't know who he is and we have to explain that he's Lucius Malfoy in Harry Potter. And funny thing is that Jason enjoys not being recognized on the streets- a person who works for the love of what he does, and not for fame. He's so refreshing!

That was interesting; thanks for posting, Char.

Only once in my life have I been in a ladies' room that had an attendant.
It was at a restaurant that my friends and I had been to a few times before. We popped into the ladies, saw this woman and didn't know what we were supposed to do. She handed us towels, we left some change in her dish as we saw others had done. I didn't understand her function.

At this time, there was a two week(?) convention going on with people from all over Europe attending. (This was in West Germany.) As the woman was no longer there after the convention, we assumed she had been hired to deal with businesswomen who would expect such service.

Ok, not on the top of my "to-do" list, but banning bathroom attendants wouldn't be a bad idea, as long as you knew they could find employment elsewhere. (Am I taking this too seriously?)
