. . . but it's too damn hot to cook! Check out 101 Salads. There's bound to be something to whet your appetite.
Boy, you can sure tell it's been slow lately, Jason-wise, when recipes become interesting!

This is so true! Pretty much only some stores and the movie theatres here in Seattle have air conditioning. We're enjoying one last day of 70's warmth before entering into a bit of a heat wave. 90's pretty much for the next week, so not look forward to it! We put fans up in our apartment, but they can only do so much with no wind outside and nighttime temps still in the 70's! Stay cool everybody!grannybear wrote:At least everything here is air conditioned so we are probably better off then you northerners who don't have it everyplace.
Just stay inside and keep the door closed.

Couldn't agree with you more on that Helen8. My sister wants a daily treat of tv dinners. Oh, you have got.....to be.......kidding me. Our Heat Index has been in the triple digits.....110 just two days ago, and getting worse. Not a hint of rain in sight for us, and our canals are so low, you can see the foliage at the bottom, and on the sides. YIKES!Helen8 wrote:. . .Check out 101 Salads. As Hil says, Ontario. Right at the bottom. In fact, the most southerly points lie on the same latitude as northern California, and Rome, Italy.a.p.k. wrote:Gillian ... where is it cold in July? Would love to know.
It's currently 18 degrees celsius and raining. In fact, this July has been the coolest on record. Usually this time of year we're enjoying temps in the high 20's and low 30's. Not this year.
My sister just sent me an email linking the weather forecast for our week up north (south of Algonquin Park). Rain every day except Tuesday.Gillian wrote:

Gillian, most of us in the lower 48 would welcome those temps right about now.
Last night, I made the cold rice with soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, peanut oil, and lime juice with shrimp. I added sliced green onions and chopped cucumbers for some greenery. It was very refreshing. There were about 60 of the recipes that I kept and/or modified to my liking . . . black-eyed peas for black beans/garbonzo beans (blechh) and brown rice for white rice.
