Whereabouts you heading?

Keep it vague, says the Paranoid One. We never know what's lurking here.

Oh Helen, that recipe sounds good but anything more that 3 ingredients throws me for a loop. I'm the worlds lousiest cook.
Eat and enjoy.

Now, now, grannybear. It took me all of 5 minutes to make, and that included cooking the shrimp! Just get those packets of Uncle Ben's brown rice that microwave in 90 seconds, chop up the green onions and cukes, or whatever veggies you want, mix the liquid ingredients to taste, and you're at the dinner table!

I finally checked out those salads. I might just have to try some, it's going to be nearly 100 degrees here in Seattle for the next three days that even the stove is going to be too hot to use! Thanks for sharing that link!

I think I can afford cargo hold.....................

Damn economy! I'm getting the highest evaluation I've ever gotten this year - which would normally mean a very healthy raise - but instead there are zero raises this year and a drak cloud of more layoffs. But I have a job so I'm only doing a mild grumble. SIGH!!!

In an attempt to stretch my budget I've been playing a game called 'Recession Roulette'. The idea is to use up whatever foodstuffs are in your cupboards (and fridge) before breaking down and heading to the store. The tricky part for me though is the freezer. There's stuff in there that's ancient, and because I don't mark the 'best by' date I have no idea if it's edible. Actually tried it last night with some frozen chicken. It looked nice enough cooked but, unfortunately, tasted like ass.
It went straight into the trash.

I know where I'll be heading today.

Hmmmm. Cargo hold.
Tell you what . . . when we come to Fla. for the Harry Potter theme park, I'll make you plenty o' salads.

Gillian, sniffing the meat after it thaws is quicker way to determine "edibility." Poor thing. I hope you keep a felt tip next to the fridge from now on.

I do like your Recession Roulette. There are leftover cans of pumpkin, yams, and whole cranberry sauce (from 2 years ago; my friend turned me on to making it from fresh crans last year) in our pantry. I could mold a package of ground turkey meat into the shape of a turkey and . . . Thanksgiving in July!

Deal it is!!!!

I think everyone has suprise stuff in the freezer!

The canned stuff that I don't consume (or wonder - why did I buy that?) I always donate to the local food bank. Our company (or Post Office or Boy Scouts) are always having food drives!

It was fine on the sniff, Helen, it's just that freezer burn ruined it.
I would never risk botulism by eating potentially tainted meat. :D

Ahh. The dreaded FB.

Marie, I doubt the local Boy Scouts would be interested in a box of Palak Paneer, a can of coconut milk, or a jar of grape leaves. I had good intentions when I bought the items, so when the temperature cools down, I'll use 'em.

And speaking of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter . . . go to the HP Forum thread of the same name.
