The Great Ghost Rescue

Post by thunder » Sat Oct 15, 2011 3:10 am

Sorry, couldn't find any old threads :scratch

Jason Isaacs is credited as "The Narrator"
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1185244/

The movie is out on DVD:
http://www.amazon.com/Great-Ghost-Rescu ... 627&sr=1-1

You can hear, at least some of, the narration here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OiOhRjpxbj8

The official trailer (without JI) here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXZlJXJ4-QA

Don't think I'll hurry up and buy it, but it looks like a fun movie for children :D

I just bought the book for my great niece for her birthday. Wonder if I should sent for the DVD. Looks good.
Glad to see Jason still had a hand in it.

Looks more than vaguely reminiscent of Monty Python with respect to the hacking off of limbs and "Drown the witch!!"

grannybear, you might reconsider this for your grandniece. How old is she?

Helen ... She's 8 years old which the book sellers say is the starting age for young readers but I'll put a note in for her father to put it away if he feels it's too old for her. She won't know the difference if it's held for awhile.
By the way, the DVD in B & N is $7.49. Doesn't look like a theatrical release is pending.

If I recall correctly, I think JI stayed on as a producer. Sorry to read that it didn't make it to theatres . . . :-(

By the way, I think kids love ghost stories so I don't know about the niece.

I knew Jason stayed on as a producer but didn't realize he would also narrate.
I thought this would be a good time to release it in the theaters. You know
with Halloween and all.

Ohh... This looks like great fun! (But then... this comes from a gal who is going on a "ghost hunt" in a museum next week...) Captain Hook *and* Lucius Vorenus (Kevin McKidd) -how tempting... ;-)

I got the DVD (for my JI collection) and just finished watching it. I can see where kids would love it with heads flying all around
and screaming skeletons.
I decided not to get one for my niece because of the English accents. It's hard for me to understand so I don't think an 8 year old would
have an easy time. From what I see of the book that will not be a problem.
Anyway Jason sounds good. As usual.
