Re: Turn
I watched Turn! I loved that show! I love Rev War history. I've always been intrigued by John Andre, and his story. Living in Philadelphia means that I'm surrounded by the history, and the hints of Andre - like the Shippen house! I just dragged some poor, unsuspecting Scot around the historic district yesterday. hahah! Poor man...

I've been thinking about watching this. Maybe I should get around to it soon
Great to see you back here, BTW.
It's just good for him, he'll thank you later.LadySekhmet wrote: ↑Mon Sep 18, 2017 8:48 pmI just dragged some poor, unsuspecting Scot around the historic district yesterday. hahah! Poor man...

Re: Turn
I have the feeling that he would have been fighting for the Revolutionaries if he had emigrated back then.
Thanks!

Re: Turn
Simcoe was one of my favorite characters because Samuel Roukin was just so brilliant at being bad.
But in real life Simcoe did not have a reputation as a sadistic officer.
I really appreciated how the writers were able to make everyone shades of grey. There was no absolute black and white (Revolutionaries, good; Loyalists, bad)- instead- for a tv show- it showed how the difficult the conflict was outside of the battles. They don't show that in the Patriot. There were good British officers, and bad British officers, and good Revolutionary officers/soldiers/people and bad folks, Bri/Rev folks with their own agendas, folks trying to do the right thing, But there were so many people who loved their home, but were also loyal to the king and they acknowledge that in this show. This was essentially a type of civil war in the British Empire, and I think that they did a good job at insinuating that in the show.
And they filmed all of it in and around Williamsburg, Virginia (I had hoped that would film somethings up here in Philadelphia - like Valley Forge, and the Philadelphia scenes, but they did not! The Shippen house is still here!).
