Art Book & GOSH Charity

Post by Antoni Bandzior » Thu Dec 14, 2023 7:34 pm

Hello,
I hope it's the right space to post this topic here.
It's about a project I was working on, with few other wonderful people for the last few months and now it's ready to come out into the light.
We wanted to raise money for GOSH for Jason's birthday, but it became a Christmas charity event instead.

My friends and I had the idea to celebrate Jason Isaacs’ 60th birthday, which happened earlier this year as you all know probably, by creating a book full of art inspired by his performances over the years. The characters Jason has brought to life over the past decades are as versatile as he is, and each of us connects to those roles in different ways. We wished to share our art —paintings, drawings, and comics— with others, and maybe bring some joy as a result of our mutual work…

… and do something good in the process!

The vision we had was that Jason would add his own introspections to some creations of ours. A futile endeavor, you might think. But it wouldn’t be Jason Isaacs if you aren’t flooded with kindness every time you meet him. We gave it a shot and asked him. Jason then spent an entire night in some hotel room in France, sharing stories of his past, putting them down in his own handwriting in the book we had printed for that unlikely purpose. We are filled with gratitude for his patience, and the time that he put into this.

Since we did it out of love and inspiration, we would like to share it with you and also bring some happiness and comfort to some people who need it: seriously ill children from across the UK. So we felt it would be good to share this book in exchange for a donation to the Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), as it is a charity close to Jason’s and our hearts. GOSH’s doctors and nurses battle the most complex illnesses, helping children and young people every day.

Here are links to my FB & Instagram and to Twitter (X) page where we posted everything as well.

I hope all the links work properly 🤞

As for the more personal perspective...
About a year ago I was on Dortmund comic con with my friend and since we both were drawing\painting we had this idea for a book, full of his portraits, we dared to ask him about it... We were really shocked he not only agreed to our concept, but had some ideas of his own.
So when we've met him next time in France we had a first sample of the book ready, just in case he'd agree to write something. And he did. ☺ He was given a supply of chocolate that kept him going through the pages.
We had hope that we'll be able to meet him again, creating new art in the meantime, and that we'll get maybe more stories. But there was no option to meet the man until later this year(November). And since we wanted to release it for Christmas, we finished the project, with what we already had, for which we were extremely grateful, as you can imagine. 🥰🥰🥰
Even from our perspective, who know his stories from interviews, he shared some new details that weren't told before. :adore
Therefore there are two versions:
- first one(the original- that's put on auction, with his original handwriting) is the first version, that was slightly changed later on. It has 2 different art that aren't in the final version of the book.
- final version of the book.
He signed 3 copies that we had printed for our meeting in Liege recently. This version goes also as a PDF and an unsigned printed copy.

Neither of us gets any money from this project, all of that goes to GOSH, that was the idea from the very beginning. We were creating art because it's our passion and we wished to make some use of it. And since Jason(being absolutely humble being himself) thinks no one will be interested in reading what he has written there - I'd like to prove him wrong. He's a good storyteller, as we all know that fact here.

I think I don't have to tell all of you, how happy I am for doing it. ☺

It's 1313£ so far. 🥰
The original that was handwritten by him in February sold out for 640£ and everything from it(dividing costs) was added to just giving.
We still have 2 signed copies left.

Sadly we don't have wide reach on social media to make more noise about it. So it's mostly his fanpages, Twitter and Instagram. But the result seems impressive anyway all things considering.

The best option is to contact Alex, who's responsible for shipping of everything.
The printed unsigned copy goes through ebay.
With the printed, signed version you'd need to donate money to just giving, and through personal contact you can establish details of shipping. So I'd recommend to write to her before donating.

That's the link for the just giving page:
