Bennett lands roll in political thriller

Halifax actor Nigel Bennett has landed a role in a miniseries that is filming in Toronto.

Bennett is cast in the Shaftesbury Productions/BBC co-production, The State Within, a political thriller set in modern day eastern Europe.

The movie will also feature Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), who hits the big screen in the Jennifer Aniston film Friends With Money this month.

Bennett, who has just finished Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? at Neptune Theatre, is in Toronto this week working on the film and will resume shooting in May.

The State Within is produced by Patrick Cassavetti and Grainne Mormion with executive producer Jessica Pope. It is directed by Michael Offer and Daniel Percival.

Other cast listed on imdb.com includes Paulino Nunes and Todd Sanomirsky.
