Update, though they are finally getting round to releasing the DVD, the release date keeps changing
Amazon.co.uk state the release date was the 5th October 2009 but that the DVD is out of stock and they will send an e-mail with an estimated delivery date.
However Play.com have a release date of 25th January 2010, looks like the release date has been put back again.
Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/Legends-Comedy- ... 884&sr=1-6
Play http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/6855012/ ... oduct.html
Both Region 2 and no sign of the DVD on the BBC Shop web site.

I really enjoyed this despite some of the basic errors, the blue/brown eye thing particularly irritated me because I just thought if they can't get that right what else aren't they getting right, it was entertaining though and according to Amazon the release date is now 14th June 2010. I really enjoyed the Frankie Howard one too so I am glad they will all be released as one DVD.
BBC 4 Have started a new series of Female Legends. Did anyone see Helena Bonham Carter as Enid Blyton last night? It was absolutely fab! I loved Enid Blyton, The Famous Five were the first books I ever read, she was the JK Rowling of her day and her books still sell about 8000,000 a year. Helena's portrayal was great but I had to smile! Poor Enid developed dementia at the end of her life and at the end of the drama Helena did look a bit like Bellatrix dressed up like Ma Weasley.

Another thing I was going to mention about the Enid Blyton drama. Enid had two daughters, the eldest Gillian was sent to boarding school when Enid got married for the second time, she loved her mother very much and remembers picnics, happiness and nothing but good times, Enid's youngest Imogen remembers things very differently and thought Enid was a terrible mother so of course the drama is very much based on that point of view as it wouldn't have been quite so dramatic from Gillian's point of view. I think the same probably happened with all The Legends.

I was asking a store to keep a shirt I had just bought on the hanger but they only had expensive wooden store hangers and the Manager said she did not even have a wire hanger - at that moment both the sales clerk and I said at the same time in the same voice "how many times do I have to tell you - NO wire hangers........."
It's kind of amazing what one movie can do - I think it's the only thing I remember about Joan Crawford....................
