I was poking around some older folders & found this one.

I also like to go to my YouTube, put Jason’s name and some of his works (or, sometimes, just random words), just to see what come up.

Anyway, look what I found (a little surprising, IMO, given my understanding of the controversy surrounding the project).

I have the DVD, but I think everything was stopped because of the controversy with the family. So it's really hard to find now. Thanks, Hot Wheels.

You’re wecolme, too! There’s no telling what else is out there! (Even if you don’t have a YouTube account, you should be able to access videos via Google...try typing “Jason Isaacs ______ YouTube”.)

I know plenty of his movies are on YouTube, but I don't think we should share links here to his work (full movies and series) that are easily available to buy or watch on VOD or different streaming services. It's his and others' livelihood afterall. But if they aren't available... that's more in the grey zone, I think.

I've been collecting over several years, A lot ofhis work, even old work is available to watch via the official channels/means.

I agree completely! If it’s easily legally available then we expect people to support the artists by purchasing the ticket/DVD of film/series/subscription/etc. But if it is no longer available or is promotional interviews/articles- then post those links.

I have caught up with this after not seeing this for many years.

I recall that this was the very first project I ever saw Jason in and I think this was after he had done a BBC interview for the radio to promote it. Wonder if the interview is around somewhere.

It is an amazing tour de force and one of my favourite Jason projects. I love the James bond hat stand homage and his Steptoe accent is spot on and I had completely forgotten the Harold Wilson impersonation.

Well written and and you really get the impending sadness as the role dominates Corbett's, I read of the trouble the show got into and that is such a shame.

The Richard II quote seemed so apt at the end.

I checked the dates for the key events in The Curse of Steptoe.

Harry H Corbett onstage (early 1960's)
The Pilot of Steptoe and Son appears on the BBC (1962)
His first marriage to Sheila Steafel breaks down in (1964)
He appears in Carry On Screaming (1966)
Married Maureen Blot Crombie (1969)
Becomes a Dad to son Johnathan and daughter Susannah (late 1969 - early 1970's)
Steptoe and Son ends (1974)

Wonder why the family objected so much.

I think they objected because the series changed a few things that put Corbett i a bad light. The series showed him starting an affair with the second wife while he still was in a relationship with hist first. Which wasn’t right… and some other things too. BBC had to stop selling and sending it, which probably means that the family had some good points.
I still think it’s good, but creative license only goes so far, I guess…

Do you think if they had put the captions regarding the years and changed that line to blond instead of brunette things might have helped. I still think Jason is brilliant in it.
