Good News?

Post by Chari910 » Sat Apr 23, 2011 2:13 am

I'm confused by this article:

This is the second pilot which employs an "Inception-esque" story. Wilder Valderrama, Jason Isaacs and Cherry Jones are the stars of "REM" which pilot is picked up by NBC. It centers on the simultaneous and parallel lives of a detective who can't let go of any aspect of his fractured family after a car accident.

Are they saying both are still pilots or both were picked up to series??

Sounds to me as if it was picked up but that seems awfully fast. Do networks make up their minds that fast?

Oh yes, Jason is lead and his name should always come first. Have to train these guys in.

I think it just means that they have decided to make a pilot... (but poor choice of words).

thunder is prob correct. The NBC Upfronts is the second week of May. So they can't be making decisions until they have seen all of the pilots.

Yeah, poor choice of words.

I don't know...I think it's too early for them to decide?? (hope they make the right decision and pick up REM). My fingers are still crossed.

I'm too old for this uncertainty. Wake me when it's over.

the stars of "REM" which pilot is picked up by NBC.

Poor syntax is causing the confusion. Let's just wait and see, like Char points out, until the second week in May when the decisions are made.

I couldn't find out where this website is based--their registration info is nonpublic--but it's full of such syntaxical anomalies (a sample from their FAQ page: "How do Aceshowbiz rank celebrity in Celebrity Buzz?"), suggesting that it originates from a place where English is not the first language, and I agree that's causing our confusion.
I think we'll learn more from a website we've ever heard of. :-|

*Edited to add that I didn't mean that as criticism of those whose first language is something else, but in this case, the writing can lead to two very different conclusions, so I don't think we should rely on it.*
