Re: Reviews
Hi,
Has any one see this? It's about the distribution of some of the films. It sounds like Sweetwater has not yet been picked up. :^< I, at first, missed the sentence where he states that he hasn't seen any of the films on the list (!), so I'm a little surprised that he's so positive about them. Maybe the scuttle-butt around the festival was more positive than some of the reviews? (He also has a movie on the list with Mads Mikkelsen (at the very end), who I always enjoy watching, and it would be nice to see that one come out, too...) Fingers crossed...

The character of Prophet Josiah played by Jason Isaacs is one of the best on-screen villains that I have seen in quite sometime.

Wow, that review is super-positive. Which is the good news. The bad news is, the review author is, frankly, a terrible writer. Its hard to value his opinion when the sophitication of his critique is "the bad guy is a lot like Hitler."thunder wrote:Another positive review (some minor spoilers):

Here's a review from Dallas Film Festival:
Saying it's a flop, but ends up giving it 2,5 stars.
http://www.redcarpetcrash.com/diff-revi ... ore-sugar/... the skilled Harris (“Apollo 13,” 1995) and the charismatic Isaacs (“The Patriot,” 2000), who seem to enjoy themselves in roles that are incredibly fun to watch.

Re: Reviews
Well...I guess I'm not too surprised that they said those things, mostly because some of the Sundance reviews said sort of the same thing. Ultimately though, it will be how the audience receives it- if we ever get a chance to do so. It seems to be doing the festival circuit. I wonder if it will make it to the Philadelphia Fim Festival in October ("hint, hint", she whispered while poking the film promotion gods who are in charge of this little film.)
Re: Reviews
I'm pretty positive that at the European festivals it will be called Sweet Vengeance, since THAT'S the name it's called at Amazon.co.uk, so that's the name we should be looking for during those festivals...l re-saw a interview the other day where he said that bad things happen when he puts on a long wig; I wonder if anything weird happens to him if his regular hair just grows long in back...(don't think there's ever been any pics of that!) ln

ROFL Fruitbat. I don't think I've heard that joke before.
Also thanks to Ellen for the title switch around for amazon.co.uk. Why do I have a feeling that the UK site of Amazon is going to be getting more money from me in the coming 6-12 months. LOL. I know I had to get my Bond CD's from there, and it looks like some of the movies might only end up being from there too.

Here's another review from Dallas Film Festival:

Says it's not very easy to enjoy, and a forgettable film - but very interesting. Looks like he like Jason's performance, though.

Agreed Beth, I think Amazon.co.uk is gonna be getting a LOT of MY $ too this year (and I get to have an ornery DH to boot with the stupid exchange rate!). But again I say, it's just the price to being a dedicated Jason fan... LN

DVD Review
http://www.filmoria.co.uk/2013/05/sweet ... vd-review/
The fundamental flaw with Sweet Vengeance is pacing and structure. It ambles along and takes far too long to get to the revenge part of the story. While there is plenty of fun to be had watching Harris and Isaacs show boating, their numerous scenes and consistent presence comes at a cost to what should have been the emotional centre and main drama of the story. January Jones receives short shrift in what could have been an iconic feminist western.
Re: Reviews
Geez, pretty scathing to Jason, good thing the guy has (or should by now) have titanium for an outer layer. LN
