Another good one:

The theme of middle-class families facing financial hardship provides a topical marketing angle for Klein's thoughtful drama, while solid performances from Bentley and Harry Potter co-star Jason Isaacs could also boost its modest box office potential.
I like these prospects.

This is a bit more mixed, but they like Jason's work.
And Isaacs is terrific as always, though absent for large swathes of the film when we do feel his loss. In fact, an interesting mental trick is to imagine this film with the lead actors switching roles — we can't help but feel that Isaacs' ambivalent edge might have sold Bill's psychological contortions better.

ha ha Thunder, 'they didn't like it much'? That was an understatement...it seems they hated it! But I agree, Variety hardly ever likes ANYTHING, so what should we expect. Maybe one day we can do AWAY with reviewers (except for Mark and Simon of course), and erm...WE could decide for ourselves...hope it DOES get theater space in at least the USA! ~ellen

It's gotten good reviews from others. I'm still optimistic.

AH! Much better (and maybe they were SO excited at prospect of this great movie, they're fingers flew, and misspelled Isaacs...it happens. I'd prefer a good review and a misspelling than an awful review and a proper spelling...)

Good? Merely GOOD? Gosh "he rings every last drop of dramatic pathos" out of the character! Higher praise I've rarely read...too bad they didn't like the premise. PLEASE, just let it get theater time!
