The OA Part 2 discussion: SPOILERS

Netflix series, premiering Friday December 16th 2016. Jason plays Dr. Hunter (Hap), who researches near death experiences (NDE). I don't know how to explain this, watch it yourselves.

The OA Part 2 discussion: SPOILERS

Post by thunder » Sat Mar 23, 2019 4:48 am

It's time for a place to discuss part 2, so here it is.
I'm not a TV-binger, never understood the point of seeing 8 hours in one go, spreading it out is better. So I've only seen the two first episodes. I like it so far, took a different direction than what i expected after seeing the first season, but it's intriguing.

I'm midway into 3rd. Power outage last night-we have a whole house generator but the internet was gone until very late.

I'm just glad HAP didn't keep the long hair and beard of the body he jumped into ;-)
He got beat up almost as much as Jackson Brodie!
And again..hitting himself in that handsome face-just like Lorca did.

IMHO, they could have picked someone with more charisma to play the detective-he has a big part!

What I like about this show, is that it doesn't try to convince me or feed me with tea spoons. It sort of just invites you to go on a ride, and you don't know what's going to happen. There are more questions than answers, and I like that, it doesn't matter if I get lost in all the dimensions, it's he humanity and the human relations that stands out for me and makes me keep on watching, and watching it again. I really hope they will make all of it. :hands

Here's an interview about the ending. Jason wondering what kind of accent to use in the next season.
Don't read until you have seen the end!!!!

SPOILER for the ending of The OA part II

DH and I just finished it a couple of days ago--we watched an ep or two a night.
Unlimited "WTF???" moments.
I typically don't re-watch things, either series or movies, but I may have to make an exception...
Are you guys done with it yet? Because I have so many questions!!! but also I have to say I thought the detective was pretty irresistible (thought I did have to laugh when he demanded of one of the other characters, "How do you know I smoke?" Ugh dude because we can smell it two blocks away. I initially assumed he was smoking weed, it being San Fran and all...)

If you Google, you can find fascinating articles about trees functioning as communities--this one mentions specifically their communication via fungi:

This means, as DH observed, Jason Isaacs has appeared in TWO series in which he travels interdimensionally by means of mycelial networks.

OMG! I just discovered (to myself, maybe everyone else in the universe already knew) that
the character Anthony Rapp played in Star Trek: Discovery, the navigator, shares the name of the mycologist quoted in that article!

Yup noticed both of the above. If you stretch a little Awake and Event Horizon might both be considered another dimension! And the Paul S. Stuff is very cool!

I watched the last episode yesterday.

It gets stranger and stranger. So now he is Jason Isaacs!

Hello to Jason Isaacs! :D

I watched the episodes one or two at a time. There was so much to-ing and fro-ing between the group of friends who knew OA and the dimension with Hap and Nina that I occasionally wondered if I had missed out an episode, as I found it difficult to remember two episodes back.

Here is a site that summarises the first series episode by episode. I just read it to remind me what happened before.
