I have a feeling this was a bit improvised.

The description sounds as if the writer knows nothing at all about Blackpool!
The illuminations are a great light show every year, and it all lasts for weeks. Blackpool has an illuminated mini Eiffel Tower too, the Blackpool Tower. Blackpool has trams, and some of the trams are decked in illuminations too. Blackpool Tower has a ballroom, and that's one location for Strictly Come Dancing (Dancing with the Stars).
Great that Jason helped to turn on the lights - a bit of extra publicity for the show.
I tried to find a video of him, but the one that was supposed to be on the Blackpool Gazette site did not work - there was just a video of the crowd without Jason.

If you scroll down in the article (past Jason's picture), you'll see the video of him. Filmed by someone in the crowd, probably.
