Jason will play Anna Politkovskaya's husband in this movie about the Russian journalist who exposed Putin's regime and was murdered. Maxine Peake plays Anna Politovskaya, and Ciarand Hinds is also in it.

They have added more cast, and the rticle says it will start filming at the end of September:

Made me a bit worried if Jason will be available, but the artlicel says he's still in it... Maybe the Cary Grant series have finished by then? Or maybe Jason isn't in all of this since the husband isn't the lead... :scratch

Members of Anna Politovskaya's family don't llike the script, says it's misrepresenting them. :scratch

Wow! That is controversial. The family saw a preliminary script—and maybe—changes may have been made to the final script. :huh

It reminds me of The Curse of Steptoe issues. It had to be reedited after complaints, and then after new complaints, it was banned. Hope they will fix the issues with this one.

It seems this movie is finally approaching. 💜

Words of War is the title that will be displayed in Cannes.

Thanks, Antoni. :D

Glad they used a picture of Jason from the movie in the article :woot

Here's another article, but it's pretty much the same in it.

I agree, she is very good. She is well known for a Lancashire accent which she has refused to change, so it will be interesting to hear her being Russian-American.

Ciaran Hinds is excellent too - he has been Oscar and BAFTA nominated.

Cannes has form for giving awards to films that don't get Oscars etc, so we can hope!

I have never seen Maxine in anything, so she's quite new for me, but I like Ciran very much. I've met him after a performance and he's not only brilliant actor, but quite nice person too.

As for the accents - for me, all the english-russian accents are abominations. It never sounds right, rather like mocking of that actual accent. So I personally prefer when native english speaking actors skip it, and don't pretend. It's probably similar to when native english - speaking person hears all the nuances of their accents, so you can catch instantly when something is wrong with it.

Maxine did the comedy Dinnerladies which is miles away from the work she is doing now.

I genuinely thought the lads from Spinal Tap were from the UK as they were spot on.
