Sorry I'm just getting to this now. Spectrum had a severed fiberoptic cable, and I'm only now able to get here.

Watched the movie at the LA Film School auditorium . . . in the center of row 3 . . . way too close to the screen. Oh, my poor eyes. But, I was directly in front of where Jason would later sit during the Q&A. :wheee

No spoilers here. We can start another thread after Friday when the movie is released.

The movie was disturbing. It was a psychological thriller about a teenaged girl. Her dad is a plastic surgeon. Her mom has issues of her own. They live in upstate New York (Winnipeg doubles for it). The girl attends an upscale private high school. Some of the boys are Kavanaugh-like. She is having a tough time fitting in. That's about all I can say without giving the story away.

Jason et al. arrived when the credits rolled. Jason, India Eisley (the teenager), and Assaf Bernstein (writer/director) sat in front of us in "director's chairs." The moderator asked them questions, and at the end, it was open to questions from the audience. I managed to ask one. (I'll post it on the Spoilers thread later because it would give away too much of the story.)The first surprise for me is India has an English accent, but the character's is American. Assaf wrote the screenplay while at NYU Film School about 20 years ago.

There is a podcast of it on iTunes, but I recommend not listening to it before you see the movie.

Afterwards, people lined up for pix and some brought things for Jason to sign. I mentioned that since I stayed off the Internet from Friday through Sunday afternoon, I didn't see his Twitter post and worried if I would get a ticket or inside even if I did. Since there were only about 60 people in the auditorium, he said that I didn't have to worry. Hubby took a couple of pix of us.

Jason continued talking to others and he mentioned 2005 Sundance Festival and "a group of ladies who follow him all over the world." He called to me (I was slowly making my way out) and asked me if I had attended. I replied that I didn't make it there. He told them about how, at the Press Briefing, some of the ladies had gotten there and were seated at one of the tables. When he saw them he asked, "How the eff did you get in here?" By then I was out of earshot.

We made our way to the parking garage. The celebs exited through a different exit and were there waiting for their cars. We got ours, paid, and DH drove the 2-hour drive at midnight. :snore

I thought you would make it there! Glad it wasn’t too crowded.
I saw the tweet on Saturday, had an insane moment of thought of booking the last minute flight to get there but balked when they said the tickets would be oversold and admission was not guaranteed.
The movie is obviously released for Halloween. It maybe a hit among teens.
Jason just had a run of playing creepy dads in 2 back to back movies! A Cure for Wellness and now this.

Char, I did, too. That's why we got there at 2:30. Found out that people didn't line up until around 6. So, we went across the street to the Arclight Cinema (where, 15 years ago, we attended the Passionata premiere and met Jason for the first time :adore ) and watched the movie, The Old Man and the Gun, to pass some of the time. As luck would have it, halfway through the movie a fire alarm went off, and we had to exit the building and wait for LAFD to give the all clear. It was 4:45 when they let us back in. I was worried about not getting near the front of the line so we asked for a refund and went back to the film school . . . where we sat until 8:00 when they let us in. So, had you come, you'd have gotten in. And I would have been thrilled to see you. Jason, too, no doubt.

“Look Away” Premieres 10/12/18

Post by Hot Wheels » Thu Oct 11, 2018 2:15 am

“Look Away” premieres Friday, 10/12/18!! I wish I could be there!

I came across this in one of my Facebook groups; it’s from the 10/9/18 screening:

https://www.gettyimages.ca/detail/news- ... 1047854506

I then did a little “DIG”-ging, and found this on YouTube:

Needless to say, I wasn’t satisfied, so I clicked on a related YT video, and found this short (but hilarious!) KTLA interview:

Good interview. I like Emma's comment about smartphone use in the family. Thanks, thunder.
