Weekend Report: 'Harry' Makes History

Working its final movie mojo, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 soared into the record books with the highest-grossing opening weekend ever. The series finale drew an estimated $168.55 million on around 11,000 screens at 4,375 locations, dethroning The Dark Knight's $158.4 million. . . . the opening day record of $92.1 million on Friday (buoyed by a record-shattering $43.5 million midnight launch),

I knew it was going to be big but I never dreamt it would be that big.
Is there anyone left (besides me) that hasn't seen it?

Those are impressive figures, but, because they're based on cash takings rather that actual 'bums on seats' it doesn't really mean much - as cinema prices go up (especially for 3D and Imax screenings) each big film that comes out is going to do better than the one before. The important thing is the pleasure that the audience gets - and I'm sure that the HP audience is going to keep the films on the top of the charts that really mean something for a long time to come.

Impressive. $168.55 million! (I can’t imagine how much money it is).
I'm planning to watch it again very soon.
