getting sick of myspace
Hell, I'm about to delete that account or maybe I should clean up my list and leave only the people who I talk to, I'm starting to think myspace is a big waste of time. That place attracts weird people, what's the point of attacking and insulting someone online? That's ridiculous and childish to me. Insulting someone online is not only immature, but pointless.
I'm sick of receiving stupid messages like:
"You like punk rock but still pay attention to these rich fucks that have nothing to do with you whatsoever..HAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! give me a fucking break and cry me a riverrrrr.."
or like this one:
"hi angel how are you i think you are very sweety i want meet you is it ok?pls send me message"
-shakes head and sighs-
(just needed to rant)

S'okay, Angel, that's what the forum is here for!
I think a lot of people find the amount of traffic on MySpace overwhelming--now that you're sort of established, that you've got some connections, just keeping your page accessible to friends only seems sensible.
Good for you for keeping some perspective on things!

Yeah...aww thanks Hilary.Good for you for keeping some perspective on things!
I logged in today and found out that my account has been pished, I couldn't send messages or post bulletins. So I had to change my password (AGAIN) because I got hacked. Sucks.

I've had a Myspace account for quite sometime now, and nearly everyday, I have a rant about it! So, it's not at all difficult to understand why you'd want to delete it.
Use to get all sorts of nutters wanting to meet me, this, that and the other thing. Drove me mad! Eventually, I just set my account to private...along with setting the comments/messages to needing to be verified before they appeared on the profile. Got rid of many of the nutters pretty quickly, I might add. I mainly have people I already knew on the friend list, along with some bands etc...but I'm awfully picky about who I add...if they seem like demented nutters, then chances are good, that they are.

Exactly! Like Angel, my account would be phished/hacked at least once a week, which after having to change the password a billion times, does get quite old. Not to mention irritating. And trying to keep tabs on who's a demented nutter, and who isn't...beyond annoying, but is needed.Gillian wrote:I don't blame you at all Susanne. With Myspace, it's always best to err on the side of caution.
They say they're updating things and working on ways to eliminate the problems...obviously not, because the problems still continue. Case in point being, trying to post a blog(which is where I put s few of my short stories/poems), and after having worked on it for a few hours, ruddy Myspace eats it! Thankfully though, I save it elsewhere...still, that's not the point, you know? I had a friend back home, who uses Myspace UK, and has the same problems as here. He also had the lovely problem of not being allowed to access his account, because they continuously said his email was invalid, or some such rot. Took him almost 2 weeks, to finally get it sorted out.

Yes, annoying indeed, not to mention the abundance of spam which is also annoying, many users post a lot of inappropriate material. Myspace is an open door for nutters, stalkers and pervs. And trying to keep tabs on who's a demented nutter, and who isn't...beyond annoying, but is needed
Setting your account to private is a good choice to avoid many problems, you can keep unwanted people from contacting you and seeing your pictures, it's safer. Unless you set it to private, everyone and anyone can view your profile.
My myspace page is public but I can block those weirdos who make me feel uncomfortable and choose who's going to be on my friends list. And I set all my pictures to private.

I have a space but I haven't been on since last year, I was begining to find some aspects of the site very disturbing and it kind of sucks you in. I have a friend who I am quite worried about, she has two spaces, one where she is herself and one where she is pretending to be someone she wants to be, when I look at this site I really, really worry about her sanity, it's like she actualy believes that she is this character and most disturbing of all is the time she spends on both spaces, it's like her life. Work and Myspace and that's it. Plus I have read those horror stories about girls that have been stalked and murdered by some Nut Job that they have added as a friend.

I know a few people on this site have a myspace profile but I've come to realize it's not a nice place, just telling you from experience.
It can get really annoying, but that's my opinion, so pleeease, don't take any offense to what I'm saying if you like myspace.
It's just that I simply got sick of it and all the spam, the retarded bulletins, people showing off their half-naked pics, old dirty pervs, bands friend requests, messages from strangers, people begging for comments, annoying guys who just wanna know a girl because of how good she looks, etc, etc, the list goes on and on. LOL!
Okay, it's not all that bad, I've met some cool and decent people on myspace, but I still think it was a wise decision to delete my account.
I realized I was getting a bit old for all that, now I need to focus on other things.
And yes, it gives me more free time to work on my blog!

I'll keep mine for the time being...although, I seem to go there less and less frequently these days. Besides, I'm a member of deviantArt, and what I put on there, actually shows up and doesn't end up in cyberspace somewhere! Which, as a writer, is a wonderful thing. And, you can copyright your work there, whereas at Myspace, you can't...unless, you set everything to private, and even then, someone can find their way to it. So, nothing's really safe there. And, not too many of the people on deviantArt are demented nutters, which, is also a wonderful thing.
