I can't watch that scene. Like Angel says, it breaks my heart.

Amen on that point, Andrea. :lol
Makes me wish I'd been there to recover Tavington's devastated body.
Can't really watch the stabbing through the throat scene. Blast, why can't I remember what those infernal swords at the end of the rifles are called. TOTAL BLANK now.
That's funny......I don't remember being absent-minded! :scratch

I close my eyes and imagine Mellie tripping over his feet and falling on his own bayonet. A much, much more satisfying ending.

:bang Bayonet! Yeah, that's it! WHEW! I just couldn't remember what that bloody thing was called. Thanks, Helen8.

Or, better yet......Tavington's horse gets the confederate flad out of his chest, goes back to Ben Martin, and stabs him repeatedly, saying, "HA! How do you like a taste of revenge, Col. Martin?
:lol :rofl ~marilaine :XXX to Ben Martin

I had this terrible thought last night.
That scene, where the Green Dragoons are riding up to the Martin farm, and Tavington puts his arm up to signal the others to slow down to a halt.
I was wondering if he doesn't put his arm straight out to signal a RIGHT HAND TURN. I know, I know. C-H-E-E-S-Y! :loco  ~marilaine ::rofl

I also seem to hear "The Ride of the Valkyries" when the Green Dragoons are riding along the cotton fields.

LMAO!! Ye Gods, I see that everytime, myself!

However, people here have found out, that when I watch that dreaded scene...only one thing is going to happen...I'm going to cry like a little girl. *sniffles* I do believe, I've changed the that scene in my head a billion different times. All of which end in Mellie biting the big one, instead of Colonel Tavington. *evil laugh* :razz

 Ladies, come to South Carolina, USA, where The Patriot was shot, and folks still adore Jason. In fact one of the uniforms he wore in the movie is a permanent part of the State Museum collection in a section about many movies filmed in our state! Doesn't that just shiver your timbers?

Oh really now...

*makes mental note to inform hubby we're going to SC, instead of Boston, in August*

...you do realise, that once we see that...we won't be seeing anything else! :lol
