Angel, your photos are GORGEOUS!!! You could sell them as postcards!!!

(Helen, I'm gonna totally guess here: the governor-general represents Her Majesty's presence, so the guards seem entirely appropriate to me.)

I don't think they're Beefeaters though. They look more like the Royal Guard at Buckingham Palace.

On a hunch, I Googled "household guards". The Wikipedia article has this to say: "The term Household Cavalry is used across the Commonwealth to describe the cavalry of the Household Divisions, a country’s most elite or historically senior military groupings or those military groupings that provide functions associated directly with the Head of state.

Canada's Governor General's Horse Guards and India's President's Bodyguard are typical Household Cavalry regiments, employing armoured vehicles for combat duties and equestrian units for ceremonial functions."

From the page on the Governor General's Footguards:
"In addition to this, it also performs a ceremonial role similar to that of the Guards regiments of the British Army, mounting the guard on Parliament Hill and at Rideau Hall in Ottawa, a task it shares with the Canadian Grenadier Guards."

I'm not sure but one of them I think is the Museum of Civilization. I loved Ottawa, absolutely adored it, it's a great city.

Today I visited Mont Royal, there's a great view of the city on top of it (I'll try to share some pictures later).

I really like Montreal, it's very cosmopolitan and multicultural, I love the old part of the city with its narrow streets, beautiful shops and European style squares:

I'm going to Toronto this weekend, cant wait.

I'm back from Canada, I had a great time and loved Toronto sooo much.

I'm glad you enjoyed yourself, Angel. I just wish the weather had been better. Like fruitbat says, it's been an unusually cool and wet summer this year.
