Wow, Marie, lots of well-wishes for her recovery! I know at 103 you gotta expect problems, but it doesn't seem to soften the impact any when something like that does happen - certainly seems that way, anyway.
Chari; my Gramma is in her 90's and even tho she seems healthy and fit, I still worry. You can't help it!

My Dad broke his hip while we were on vacation in NM one summer.
He had to spend his vacation in the hospital, during an a/c breakdown, and a roommate who was a dirty old man (refused to wear his hospital gown, and was always lying in bed with legs wide open and the sheets at his feet. Just going in to the room to visit Dad, we had to avert our eyes. UGH! )

That's a weird phenomenon that seems to be more common than one would think. When I visited a great uncle at a nursing home there were a few old men that were known to uncover themselves 'by accident' when visitors or nurses came around and when my mother was a nurse she met quite of few old exhibitionists. Batty old men. I can't find the rationality behind it. You never hear of old women doing that. Men are weird.

Dad's privacy curtain was only one obstacle....but to enter the room, you had to pass the old perv's bed. One must learn to close eyes early to avoid any unneccessary viewing.....and the fact that he kept, "Hey, pretty ladies....." I was so glad Dad's convalescence commenced to Santa Fe. Phew! Dodged a really ugly bullet. (And, they had air conditioning. Thank you God! )
