Currently listening to disc 3 (of 5) of Case Histories.

One word of warning, whatever you do, don't drive while listening to them. It's hard do both LOL. You either miss out on what's being read or what's happening on the road. Must be something to do with Jason's voice. Very Happy

Here's the synopsis on the back of the audiobook:

"Cambridge is sweltering, during an unusually hot summer. To Jackson Brodie, former police inspector turned private investigator, the world consists of one accounting sheet - Lost on the left, Found on the right - and the two never seem to balance.

Surrounded by death, intrigue and misfortune, his own life haunted by a family tragedy, Jackson attempts to unravel three disparate case histories and begins to realise that in spite of apparent diversity, everything is connected".

Jason gives Jackson Brodie a lovely, northern (possibly Yorkshire) accent.

Hooroo,
Carole

LOL Helen. I've changed it. Must have looked at the pic of Jason on the rear of the box when doing it to make the fingers slip.

I've finished listening to this. Like Carole said, the story is quite complicated (so it needs full attention when listening to it). I liked it so much that I will buy the next one too.

It's impressing how he swaps between characters from different ages, sexes and accents. (and not the least personalities!)

BTW, JI does a very good "old woman" impression hilarity

Good to hear you enjoyed the audiobook, Thunder. It was a convoluted plot with lots of moving around between characters and timelines. However, it did keep you interested. I can't wait for the other two and also to find some of the novels by the author to get another view of her style. Jason does each character very well, even the old ladie.

Carole

Interesting synopsis, thanks Carole. But I'd rather read a book than listen to it. Never been a fan of audio books, I just don't feel that they are for me.

I quite enjoy audio books. I just close my eyes, concentrate on the voice and words being spoken and am taken away to another place. Best one I've ever heard has to be Return of the Native, read by Alan Rickman. Never has Thomas Hardy seemed so wonderful. Wink

I hope you don't listen while you drive. Shocked

LOL Kim.
I find that one of the highest qualities in listening to someone. If I can fall alseep to their voice, they've got what it takes in my books.

I received the second audio book (One Good Turn) yesterday, and I've finished it. (And for the record: I fell asleep three times hilarity It wasn't boring, but listening to audio books makes me sleepy)

I liked this one too. The story was less complicated than the first one (It's a sequel, BTW). It was easier to follow, and Jason did a wonderful job as always.

I usually prefer to read the books myself, but I make exceptions for JI anytime.

One of the reasons why I don't like audio books in general...they make me sleepy.
(not to mention that it's too easy for me to become distracted, I have a problem with concentration LOL!)
