RUPA LUCIAN - Child of Romania (Radio play)

Post by thunder » Wed Sep 15, 2010 12:44 pm

Has anyone heard about this before? I hadn't... It's a radio play made for BBC. Don't know when it was made. JI is the lead.

http://vimeo.com/12614051

This radio drama (TX BBC WS) is a true story that charts the historic final months leading to the fall of the Ceausecscu regime. The drama (featuring JASON ISAACS) focuses on the extraordinary personal struggle of one of the state’s most faithful soldiers who, after leading a massacre of anti - state demonstrators, finally attempts a purgative action by leading the execution of the President himself.
Produced/Directed/Adapted by Chris Templeton

I'm listening to it now, it's great so far. Very serious play, but interesting.

Long tough day at work, and I come home and find this. :D

Edit: Bummer, it didn't have the ending. But there's 47 good minutes anyway...

It does end abruptly, but it was good. And his accent is so good, I barely recognized him. Thunder, did they give a list of actors? I thought I recognized Derek Jacobi's voice.

Thanks, thunder, for finding and posting this link.

Ooh, thanks, thunder! I'd heard of this, but  didn't have it on the website. This is fabulous!
The poster says it's 58 minutes long--did you try checking it again?

I tried checking it again, and it was still only 47 minutes. I logged in and downloaded, and the file ended up being 47 minutes. There's no "part 2" there that I can find. It has been uploaded be Chris Templeton himself, so I can try to send him a message and ask him when I come home from work. (if I can remember it...)

I sort of know how it ends, but it would be great to hear it as well.

I didn't find a list of actors. I think the English woman sounds like the actress that plays Narcissa. (Embarrassing, can't remember her name right now...)

Ok, duty calls...

Thank you, Angel!

I've sent Chris Templeton a message asking about the ending now... I don't know how often he checks his Vimeo account, or even if he will answer, but at least I've tried.

Yes, if you register on Vimeo (it's free), you can download the video in mp4 format.

I got a reply!

Absolutely Tone. I'll let you know when it's up. I'll upload another shortly: MIRAD A BOY FROM BOSNIA.

So I guess we just have to wait :D

Thunder, that's very impressive! I did listen to this one, and think that we certainly got the gist of the story from what was posted, but it was at least mystifying why the conclusion wasn't there as well.

I was surprised he answered. I didn't expect him to. I want to hear the ending too, and it could be interesting to listen to the other play that he mentioned he would upload soon as well. :D

My Heavens, he certainly is a busy little bee. Hope he gets to see the girls for Christmas.
