Interviews

You've worked alongside some of the finest British acting talent over the last decade, did anyone in particular made a big impression on you?
"There's a few really, but all of them are so fantastic to be around and so easy to talk to. Jason Isaacs was always one that was very keen and he'd say - not in a pretentious way - 'How about trying to do it this way and see how it is?' and we'd try different things. Jason was always really good at that. I never went to drama school or had professional training, so it was great to have someone like Jason on set who could put these ideas forward.

It's really cool to have these powerhouses of British acting just there chatting - it's amazing what you can pick up."

Matthew compliments Alan Rickman here, too. What a treat for these relatively unknown child actors to have this much exposure to the cream of Britain's crop of actors. It's got to rub off.

many actors would not take the time, nor be bothered trying to help others who are just starting
as actors...always knew Jason would make a Grand Teacher :woot

Yes, Jason is always ready to help others. do extra publicity and appearances. Not all actors do. It's all part of making a good movie or TV show.

He makes appearances at and judges many of those young filmmakers groups to encourage them.

At one time he said he would like to try it.

Although I think he would excel as a director, I want his face and acting talents in front of the camera - not behind it.

I totally agree with Marie, I'd rather see him in front of the camera..

He will make an excellent director
(He did rather well with a group of fans on a sunny afternoon in London, at the
stage door of the Dumb Waiter) I thought he was the Pied Piper LOL

I want him in front of the camera too. He can decide to be a director or not, but I truly don't believe he will stop acting. We know how passionate he is about his job.

Sometimes the lead actor of a series gets to direct a couple of episodes. This would give him a chance to try it out and see how he does.

Particularly if he also has producer credit, which I believe he does. He gets more say that way.

I wonder whether he'll have a say on directors? Given that big name film directors occasionally take on a TV show I rather like the idea of a Paul Greengrass episode of Awake.
