New project: Star Trek: Discovery (CBS)

Several sources saying this now. And Jason tweeted a pic of the captain's chair, that he removed (I think maybe he was a couple of minutes early... :scratch maybe he'll tweet it again.)
Isaacs will play Captain Lorca, the captain of the Starship Discovery.
...to debut late this summer or in early fall.

I just checked out CBS Streaming page and it appears to cost $9.99 a month. I watch The Good Fight on a Canadian cable channel, WNetwork. I hope some Canadian channel buys it, maybe Space? I don't have Space either but I can watch, Orphan Black and Doctor Who, legally, online on the Space website.

Awaiting more info.

Thanks, BrodieCaffee :D

Underneath the article, it says "rest of the world" over a Netflix button. Does that mean it will be on Netflix for the rest of us (not USA or Canada)? That would have been great. But I don't dare to get my hopes up before it's confirmed.

Well. Now. I'm even MORE pissed.

I loved The Good Wife. CBS is hoping that the show's loyal following will help them get CBS Access started. I already pay a cable company to watch CBS. I refuse to pay CBS an additional $5.99 per month to watch The Good Fight (spinoff). Although they showed the first ep. on CBS (and it was compelling, with many of the same characters/actors), the rest can be viewed only if you subscribe to CBS Access. I draw the line. And this newly announced series with "Jason at the helm" just makes me more angry. If CBS is successful, you can bet that other stations will do the same.

Yup! Capitalism at its absolute worst. Just keep draining the consumer. I'm drawing an even farther line in the sand. :tchuh:

Ordinarily news about Jason's upcoming work makes me joyous. This? Not so much.

Sorry for the rant.

I saw this article this afternoon and I broke out into a huge grin (there may have been a quiet fangirl squee at my desk). I'm so excited for him!

While I'm more of a Star Wars girl, I will definitely watch ST:D for him!

YAY, JASON!!!!! :yip :cherub :hands

Not to dampen any high spirits but the Vanity Fair article I read said that the Captain is not the main character of the show - it is the First Officer (played by the wonderful gal who plays Sasha on the Walking Dead.) So I suspect that something happens to the Captain to then make the First Officer the focus of the show (death/transfer/????). I could be wrong but I would think Jason would only sign up for the lead role in a series (unless it was a short term assignment for him.) Since I'm a die hard Trekker I'd watch the show with or without Jason - but I was a tad disappointed when I read the VF article. :heart

Marie, see his updated IMDb profile

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005042/?ref_=rvi_nm

It has Jason for all 13 episodes.

He may not be number one, but probably number 2 or 3. Wishful thinking of course! :adore

Found this on YT as well. It's from the same interview as the WB Harry Potter tour. Jason is asked about his thoughts on being cast in Star Trek... His answer?
No idea.
I'm guessing it's because he can't talk about it yet... if it's not, he doesn't come off as super excited.

I hope I am going to be able to see this easily in the UK! I love Star Trek, and will be gutted if I can't see a combination of Jason & ST.
