Yup. Grudge is a cat (Maine coon, if I'm not mistaken).

Yes a beautiful Maine Coon Cat - and she is a queen! I was so jazzed!

Has anyone else started watching series 3? I hadn't realised it had started, but there are 3 episodes on Netflix so far. I have seen the enormous cat - I suspect it will play a part of about the same importance as Spot, Data's cat i.e. not a lot.
This show is completely different so far from previous series. They have all been sent into a future where Starfleet no longer exists, or if it does it's hidden away somewhere. To me it seems like an excuse to use a lot of fancy special effects and invent a universe with lots of tech, which they were not supposed to have if they were pre the Kirk captaincy, although in reality they did make that older world look far more futuristic than Kirk's.
So far no sign of the Klingons. Michelle Yeoh is still there, along with the main Discovery crew. No Lorca (yet?) though.
Some of the filming was in Iceland, providing spectacular volcanic scenery with snow.
They have another English actor David Ajala as Michael's new best mate, Book(er), owner of the fat cat - I like that he hasn't been asked to speak American. Michael has acquired a new hairstyle in what she claimed was the 3 years waiting for Discovery to find her. It's now waist length braided extensions (nobody's hair grows that fast). Obviously her new world has good hairdressers available!

The cat is not fat. It is a Maine Coon Cat - very large boned and muscular. I have owned 2 and I can tell you she is healthy weight wise.
Sorry - as one of the resident cat ladies I felt compelled to defend the feline’s honor!

Spoken like a true Cat Mommy.

Only joking Marie.
But somebody, probably Michael, did call her a "fat cat" in the script, and Book defended her honour too. Actually she doesn't look fat, just very big.

Yea - Michael did call her a fat cat. I think I yelled “you bitch” at the screen. And to think I loved Michael. JK I still love her not her fault the damn writers made her say that.
