Article in UK magazine movieScope

Post by Hilary the Touched » Wed Jul 02, 2008 1:24 pm

Char posted this on the FanZone: there's an article on Jason Isaacs in a recent (I think it's dated May 2008?) issue of a Brit magazine called movieScope--check out her page here!

reading what is available so far, did anyone else pick up on the fact
the interviewer states that Mr Jason speaks fluent Spanish for the role??
Does that mean English subtitles???

I did, Kim. I think I remember his character David(Friends with Money) spoke some Spanish to the construction workers.
Plus, I think I remember in an interview he did, he mentions one of his brothers is married to someone who's Spanish, and he learned from her
:adore .
I suppose that does mean English subtitles. Sure hope so. I may live within Hispanics, but I'm not exactly fluent in Spanish.

I'll take him anyway I can get 'im, if that includes subtitles. Besides, I don't speak any other languages fluently, so I'm easily impressed.

I know Mr Jason can speak fluent Spanish, I thought he brushed up
on his Spanish, because the director of the film does NOT speak
English...I didn't know he would be speaking fluently for the film...
Gosh, I just hate subtitles...
and as Helen stated, we'll take him anyway we can...LOL
Did I mention I dislike subtitles?? LOL

I LOVE subtitles! Since English is my 2nd language, I always miss something without them.

Liz from Moviescope Magazine is an angel! She sent me the article!

They are huge so I put them up at my website

HERE

Thanks so much, Liz.

Brilliant Char!!!
(English is the only language I'm fluent in, but I do have some hearing deficits; particularly when I'm watching a movie with loud sound effects/quiet dialogue, when you can't really crank the volume because the explosions would damage your spleen, I turn on the captions for clarity.)

I hate subtitles...always seem to miss what's being said...and the only other language I'm semi-fluent in, is Latin...not many movies call for that these days.

Wonderful article, and yes, he is such an incredible interviewee...I've always thought it sounded as if Jason was doing the interview, and the not the person interviewing him! He just takes it over...I love it! :woot

Subtitles can be useful for non-native speakers (like me) but, personally I don't like it because reading the subtitles distracts me from what's going on in the movie.

And I agree with you ladies, Jason is such a great interviewee!

I find that if I read the subtitles really quickly, I can look back at the screen and not miss much. That's how I got through all the Akira Kurasawa movies. Had a real thing for Toshiro Mifune in the 1980s.
