The Movie **Spoilers**

Post by grannybear » Fri Mar 12, 2010 6:49 pm

Went to see the movie this rainy afternoon. House was pretty crowded.

Jason didn't show up until 30-35 minutes into film. Then he popped up here and there. Could always tell because of the mustache.

Didn't especially care for the movie. DIdn't like the shaky camera and so much of the movie seemed to be in the dark. Made it hard to see details.
Matt Damon was very good and while I'm not a fan I would go see him again.
Jason did beautifully in his scenes. Voice was very good and he sounded like a real "Yank". First time I've seem him on the big screen. NICE.

All in all enjoyed myself and am glad I went.

Glad you enjoyed it, grannybear! can't wait to hear more about this movie.
So, he doesn't have much screen time in it, does he? I'm super pissed that I won't be able see Green Zone until next month.

I'm moving my post here...

I thought it was OK... I'll buy the DVD when it comes out, but I don't think I'll watch it in the cinema one more time.

Just thought I'll pass on some info about JI's part in it. It's not really spoilers, but in case you don't want to know anything, you shouldn't read any further.

JI has 4 scenes (that I remember). In the first he takes Miller's prisoners, and in the second, he interrogates/torture the prisoner (we see that mostly through a surveillance camera. In the third scene he talks to Poundstone on the phone. And he is in the final chase scene. Other than that we can see him show up for a second or two every once in a while, but I wouldn't really call it scenes. I lost a bit track of time seeing it, but I'm guessing about 10 minutes screen time, maybe so much as 15. I'm not sure...

I thought he did very well in it, but it's the kind of part he could play in his sleep.

Thank you grannybear and Thunder.:hugs

I had the opportunity of seeing "GREEN ZONE" this morning with my dear hubby....

The first thing I did notice as I have not ever seen a 'Bourne' film was the shaky cam but in all honesty it only bothered me because I wanted to be able to sit and adore our "HANDSOME" Jason which, alas, I couldn't do as much as I desired. That said, I quite liked the film and I must say Matt Damon as well....a good bloke!!

It would appear that the WMDs do not exist and our man Miller begins the quest with a raid for said weapons, which he believes do exist and goes after everyone in Baghdad...starting with Poundstone(Kinnear) who is giving bad info to Special Forces (Jason) who we soon learn through a CIA analyst (Gleeson) is against Miller. They are all after one of Saddams top men. From a New York news woman (Amy Ryan), Miller learns of General Al Rawi, who met with Poundstone in Jordan and told him right out that Saddam had no WMDs. It would appear the bad info was made up to justify the war....a good help to Miller is a local man named "Freddy" who becomes a translator for Miller....as Miller unravels the info he receives, he thereby learns the truth, that his mission is bogus.

Jason is seen after about :25 into the movie....very macho jumping out of that helicopter, beating Miller because he has something they all want...his scenes are fleeting, I would say he has about :15 minutes total time but I loved them and his antagonist qualities aimed at Miller. And those eyes shone in one scene, albeit a brief one and you always knew when Jason was around because of the blue scarf, perhaps that is why he chose it!! He looked "GORGEOUS!!"

All in all I liked it...it is a thriller from beginning to end, keeps you on the edge of your seat and I never once felt that it lagged in anyway...I may actually see it again.

**Spoiler**

Yes, Briggs (Jason) gets killed. And To me it was Millers (Matt) fault. He shows no remorse and that got me mad.
Anyone who has seen the movie, what do you think?

 Thanks for finally someone having the courtesy to give us the real spoiler, that our lovely Jason must die for the film's sake! I had already guessed it from a couple of scenes in some of the multitude of youtube ad videos.... Have not seen it myself, but friends tell me they felt his presence all through the film, even though they are not necessarily Jason Fans! So that is good!

I like the movie but I agree with Thunder - I would not pay to go see it again. The camera work did not bother me much (I was fearing worse but it was really not bad!)

Nits: I did not think the character "Freddie" was well written - it just did not feel right (kind of too patriotic) and it was wierd how he just kept following along in his car behind the Hummers - any forces who did not know him would have blown him away. Miller did not even go check on Briggs after the Gen got shot - even though it looked like he was bleeding out when Briggs last looked at him. It felt unprofessional. But I think if Briggs had shot the Gen then he would have turned his gun on Miller next.

Jason Isaacs dead again..........

He did an impressive job with the part. My husband loved the movie. Over all it was an enjoyable film - rather like a Raiders of the Lost Arc movie - lots and lots of action and danger!

I don't think it was Miller's fault that Briggs died, it was just another consequence of the actions of war. Briggs was about to shoot the general, and forgot to think about his own security.

If he had killed the general, why would he have killed Miller? Briggs kicked Miller's a** every time he got in his way, but it didn't look like a deeply felt personal hate, the way I saw it. They barely knew each other... Briggs was going to kill the general, and Miller tried to capture him. They had no other reason to fight. That's my interpretation, but I've been wrong before.

The end of that scene annoyed me a bit too, but only because I'm a fan of JI i think... The final view we got of him, he looked dying, but not completely dead to me, so when the scene was over and Miller stood there, I was like "Go check on him, get a doctor! Maybe there's still hope he can survive!" And then for the final scenes I was still hoping he was going to show up, even if I knew deep inside that he probably was dead...

If he had killed the general, why would he have killed Miller?
Because of the conversation Poundstone had with Briggs when Briggs asked about Miller Poundstone said he was off reservation - I took that to mean he was fair game to kill if he got in the way (and he certainly was getting in the way of Briggs job!)

You are absolutely right about that Marie, that was my impression too. And I don't think Briggs would have hesitated to kill Miller if he got in the way of Briggs "mission". But AFTER Briggs had killed the general, there would have been no reason for him to kill Miller. Just my opinion...

Saw GZ this morning with Mr. Roz. This was my first time seeing Jason on the big screen, so that was worth the price of admission for me right there! Mr. Roz really liked the movie and before it was even over, poked me and said we had to get it when it comes out on DVD. Well, duh, it has Jason in it!

Anyway, I thought the film was okay. The shaky camera did bother me a bit, but not too bad. As with all of his parts, Jason did Briggs very well. Yank accent was spot on and all. My nit pick is the same as Marie and Thunder, the scene where Miller didn't even bother to check on Briggs...it did feel unprofessional. Someone would have checked on him, to not do so just didn't seem right.

Not sure if I'd see this again. May just wait for the DVD, so I can rewind and watch what I missed in the first place. (And of course to get a good look at that awesome pornstache! )

Briggs was really just doing his job. I did not feel that this was a "bad guy" role at all. He was tough but not a bad guy. In his mind Briggs was a good guy and doing his job for his country. Jason always manages to humanize a part.

I feel Miller did not care about Briggs at all. He had one thing on his mind and that was the General. Briggs had gotten in Millers way too many times and Miller deep down was glad not to have him interfering again. Perhaps afterwards when he had time to think he felt bad.
