Re: Third Episode: SPOILERS
Sixteen minutes ...
Re: Third Episode: SPOILERS
For a while there it looked as if the BBC would be cancelling Case Histories in favour of following the overrunning F1 race. Unsurprisingly the blogosphere was alive with screams of protests (though this has never stopped the BBC before). However they did manage to shunt the cars over to BBC2 and started CH five minutes late (after running a totally pointless series of trailers).
This will probably have an adverse affect on the viewing figures as normally Antiques Roadshow would deliver an audience to CH, but in houses round the land F1 fans will have been fighting over the remote (and probably winning – it was, apparently, a good race).
I was particularly fond of one tweet: We don't want Keith Allen with his shirt off; we want Jason Isaacs!
As it happened, we only got a couple of seconds of shirtlessness this time around. And nearly at the end. But one appreciates what one gets.
I'm waiting for the conclusion to review.

Re: Third Episode: SPOILERS
Great episode.
If you know the books you'll know that it is a very complex tale with many diverse characters who interweave in seemingly coincidental ways. This is complicated enough in print and could have been a nightmare to translate on screen. I thought they did very well. I thought it had more humour than last week and revealed more depth and humanity to all the characters.
Mr I was ... well, there was one scene where it was simply very very touching. Very human and beautiful. Bless him. Really. Darling man.
I won't say anymore. When you see it, you'll know.
Very unexpected too. A very real and touching performance. Great scene.
There were lots of great scenes. My only concern is that all the 'great scenes' won't make sense to others as a whole. I know the book so I followed it very well. I fear others may be a little confused at times. My husband kept asking questions. When his ribs became too sore and my elbow became even sharper he gave up.
Totty count - not as high as last week. A couple of very brief changing clothes moments, and a fair bit of (thwarted) snogging.
And there was a real ick moment. Ick ick ick. It's in the book but they kind of put it exactly as is on screen and it was very ... err, visceral. Poor Jason. Let's just say it involved his mouth and someone else's nose. Not a woman's.
He had to suffer a fair bit in this. He was very cold. Not acting. It was obvious.
One completely random thing - did he ever have a piercing in his left ear??? Because I swear I saw an old piercing hole there, but maybe it was just make-up for Jackson. I've never noticed before. Will try to get a screen cap.
(Hope you're all well and thanks for the b'day wishes. x)

Huh - you learn something new every day. Never knew about the piercing.kjshd05 wrote:yes laurielove he does have an ear piercing in his left ear...funny, Jason was talking about your ick scene, how he and the actor nose was and how much blood it should be...they were actually laughing about it....
Yeah - it was ick. There was a lot of blood and, boy, did he bite. And I'm not squeamish. It was also very funny though. Especially the guy's reaction. Very very funny.
I missed him talking about that scene. You don't happen to know which of the numerous interviews he's done that featured in do you?? (Hmm ... that may be tricky; I don't seriously expect an immediate answer - or any answer, come to think of it.)

Re: Third Episode: SPOILERS
Quick googling reveals that not only is that particular design and motto a common military tattoo, the slogan is linked with the actions of the Berkshire Regiment in Afghanistan (the 1880 war), and the subject of a typically dire poem by Scottish national poet Wm. McGonagall.kjshd05 wrote:lovely thanx Char

(Was Jackson in Afghanistan?) Anyway, more evidence of great background character research.
