In which Jason Isaacs plays a very ungodly man of God.

Although not illegal (or copyright infringing if not reposted anywhere), I am going to guess that photogallery sites like this might change the way they serve pics to prevent such a thing were it to become prevalent. Or they could try  Sooooo, interested fellow lost girls can PM me for info on getting bigger versions. (Char, you have a PM now).

Re:that first Sundance review. Folks -- it's a bit spoilery!

Is it silly for me to almost expect any JI movie review to go "this movie was meh, but ISAACS delivers"? I want my damn Isaacs delivers sentence with this review please. I guess calling Josiah "elegant" is as close as I'll get here. [If the movie being reviewed is Abduction, replace "meh" with "Gawdaful"]

Were decorum not an issue, this is how I'd want to pose in a fan pic with Himself.
But since I know my IQ would evaporate on the spot I would no doubt end up with this expression

Thanks, Mel (there's more pics of JI on Getty):

Compares it to Tarantino... says it's not quite there.

And January Jones and Jason Isaacs talk about being nude on screen: http://www.mtv.com/videos/movies/874002 ... ater.jhtml

Wow- those are some dancing bananas!

SM there are more of those photos on zimbio (posed photo shoot, something for New Religion clothing, more hugging)- he's had another photo shoot. Saw them late last night, but was too lazy to post. The man is showering us with photo opportunities. :yip

Why does he keep "strangling" his female co-stars - first Hermione Granger and now her? lol.

*whispers* I do have to admit that those twins (the Millers?) are very attractive...shhh! don't tell Jason I said that...

Lots of stuff to look at and read as I lie here distinctly overcome by some god-awful fluey thing. So, thanks to everyone for cheering my day!

Those portrait pics are very nice. We'll forgive you, LS, for your BLATANT BETRAYAL OF YOUR LUST! FIE!

And as for the 'strangling' thing. Yeah ... maybe not to do that again ... not a good look. :scratch

Oh wow-just wow- thanks, thunder. These sipa ones are my favorites by far of Jason at Sundance, especially the one with him standing. The lighting, the background = Excellent. Too bad the watermark is often smack-dab over his face when you look at the larger pics. grr... (No worries, I've averted my gaze from any others who might be in the photoshoot. It was but a momentary lapse of reason. lol. ;^> )

Feel better, ll. Well, we'll just have to keep posting pics of Jason from Sundance until the fluey thing has passed. I think we're all okay with that....

Woo, more pics! When it rains it pours.

He also did the strangling bit with Jeremy at the Pan London premiere. I am resisting the urge to psychoanalyze. . .

Umm...*whispers* I don't know if I should post this...please don't throw rotten fruit at me... :bag:

It's a review. The author was pretty blunt about what he thought about the movie. It's even less forgiving than the Variety article. He, at least, seems (in some weird way) to approve of Jason's rendition of a "complete psychopath" and says Jason has "charisma to spare." He's not very nice about Jones' character (or her acting). Carole is right - this movie seems to be creating strong emotions with the reviewers.

What, shoot the messenger? We don't do that. Thanks, LadyS. :D

He pretty much say the same things as the others, but doesn't bother to wrap it in. I actually think it's a good review (as in looks like he knows what he's talking about), it's not just a rant party. And his impression with January Jones is the same that I got of her in the only thing I've seen her in - not surprised there. Glad he thinks that JI did a good job, but that's not a surprise either.

EDIT: This person got a more positive impression (scroll down for Sweetwater):

Whew. *crawls out from under the box* Thanks.

That is a much more positive review.

It's a little sad that critics feel the need to emphasize (like the Variety) what is outside the box stereotypically, what is "acceptable" Western myth/lore, and then insinuate that all Westerns *must* follow a specific formula. I'm specifically thinking of the Variety comment about:
But the pic never explains why he holds such power, and it flies against the wisdom of Westerns that a man of God, however power-hungry, would find himself at the top of the frontier food chain.
Sure it would be nice to get the back story, but are Westerns and their possible storylines so set in stone in regards to their formulas that one cannot mix it up and if they do they get wrist slapped by movie critics? I'm sure there were power-hungry, land grabby preachers in real life in the west, although their land grabs might have been checked by the big ranches. Actually, a preacher with charisma, threat of one's soul going to Hell, and enough fire-power is in a perfect position to get to the top of the food-chain - I guess they don't watch the real world news very much (Taliban) or read history (a little thing called the Inquisition? "Get the comfy chair!"). Hmm...they should have just made the movie about the Reverend. lol. I love Clint Eastwood's westerns, but they are sometimes a little cheesy and out there, too. Dead Man with Depp certainly didn't follow the "formula" created and blessed by Hollywood, and it became a cult favorite. Ah well...

Anyone have any ideas as to which "oily movie a few years ago" they refer?
