That looks like a nearly adequate replacement for Awake-- :adore

"You musn't be afraid of the dark, night is purer than day; it is better for thinking and loving and dreaming. At night everything is more intense, more true. The echo of words that have been spoken during the day takes on a new and deeper meaning. The tragedy of man is that he doesn't know how to distinguish between day and night. He says things at night that should only be said by day." Elie Wiesel in Dawn (the book)

I'm on a lucky strike! :wheee

Found a show reel for Joel Basman (lead in Dawn) And it has a short clip from Dawn (with JI) that starts at around 5:35.

BTW, the whole video is worth watching, this guy is excellent.
..and so is Jason. :D

Wow, thanks Thunder. I felt a little bit of Ronald Colman sneaking in there (and it made me happy).

Wow Thunder, nice find again!

I agree that the young actor seems really talented with his acting range on display like that.

Man, I knew this was another JI mustache role . . . notta fan of mustaches on *anyone* :finger:

At least it's not the Soldier mustache.

He's so stoic, giving in to the inevitable. I so want to see the rest of this.

Thank goodness it's not the Soldier mustache. *blergh* I hope he never does that mustache again. ick.

Jason's characters' death are uncomfortable enough (except for the above Mustache), but this one looks like it could be almost as heartwrenching as the end of Good. I might have to be armed with a box of tissues in my bag when I go to see this movie...or maybe I'll just wait until it comes out on DVD to cry quietly in the comfort of my own home.

Yeah, in the clip the tear-inducing "British Stiff Upper-Lip" in the face of bleak prospects is on full display. When Colin Firth does this it can make me boo hoo in a matter of minutes. Can anyone who has seen the series say how it compares to the Civvies character (ALSO with Mustache)?

I flatter myself that I could hear subtle differences in this accent in the role than from his own natural accent. It's a little more "old boy, old chap" sounding.

I was upset just watching this short scene, can't imagine how I will react watching the movie.

This character is a rather well educated British officer. The Civvies character is more untamed working class kinda guy. And quite quick to turn to violence if provoked. Frank Dillon would not have cooperated like that... more likely to have beaten the boy half to death.

There are pics and a link to the first episode on YouTube in this thread if you want to check it out for yourself (I think the first 3 episodes are on YT):

I believe he referred to this one as his "David Niven mustache". Ellen
