It didn't come as a surprise... at least it's coming. and it says they are considering more episodes after being impressed by the pilot.

I hear that, despite the challenges, USA brass loved the pilot and are high on the series, seriously considering picking up additional episodes beyond the originally ordered six.

That has to be a little annoying as the lead actor in the series. But is was worded a little squishy anyway so it probably did not come from someone "official".
