Here's a review that I found:
https://filmink.com.au/reviews/review-r ... true-blue/
The sequel begins with a wait-a-sec-what’s-happening-here meta flourish as harried businessman, Michael Carter (Brit import, Jason Isaacs, doing a top notch Aussie accent), takes his two young sons to the movies…to see Red Dog! After the screening, Michael reveals to his young son that he was actually the first owner of the pooch that would eventually become famous for uniting the disparate residents of a WA mining town.

Darn. Sounds like he's in the very beginning (with his great Aussie accent) and, with any luck, at the very end? Once again, we'll take what we can get.
Thanks, thunder.

It says he tells it through flash back. So I*m thinking maybe a couple of scenes...?

Here's another review. It's a good review, but they have some issues wit the first movie being watched by characters in this movie. I kinda see their point. It's not breaching the 4th wall, exactly, but... I don't really know. It's a bit strange isn't it? Especially if you have seen the first... which I haven't, so I'll be good.
They seem to like the rest.

OK, am I the only one who missed the fact that there was a move called Red Dog?
I am hoping that if there is not a lot of Jason on screen, we might at least get some narration.

It was brought up so long ago you may have forgotten!! Plus Jason had warned us that he did not have much screen time!

Watched this today and I loved it. Charming, moving and at times very funny I was transported into this strange meta world of character watching their past on screen and ending up up being a better person by the experience.
Jason is in it more that I expected and his accent seemed amazing. Loved the interaction with the kids. Was moved by the sight of him crying just so natural and relatable.
The Grandad and the young boy in the flashback were great loved the coming of age storyline (falling in love for the first time) and the moment we see Jason recalling Betty with such a lovely moment of love.
Koko was womderful and the end brought me to tears.
Watch it if you get the chance.
Why have a I never heard of this movie and so many more of Jason's work.
Running out of Jason options now only Capital City to go.
