Cancelled and Emmy win

This puppet animation movie is a prequel to "The Dark Crystal", a classic from 1982. Jason Isaacs gives his voice to The Emperor. It will premiere on Netflix August 30. (2019)

Netflix has cancelled any further production of this. And apprently, it won an Emmy for outstanding children's program.

There's some disappointing news at the bottom of the article.

"We are so grateful to Netflix for trusting us to realize this ambitious series; we are deeply proud of our work on Age of Resistance, and the acclaim it has received from fans, critics and our peers, most recently receiving an Emmy for outstanding children's program."

Netflix said in a statement, "We are grateful to the master artists at The Jim Henson Company for bringing The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance to life for fans around the world. We're thankful to the executive producers Lisa Henson and Halle Stanford, and Louis Leterrier, who also directed all episodes, as well as the writers, cast and crew for their outstanding work and thrilled they were recognized with the Emmy this weekend."

Age of Resistance featured an A-list cast that included Lena Headey, Anya Taylor-Joy, Taron Egerton, Mark Hamill, Jason Isaacs, Simon Pegg and Nathalie Emmanuel. The series premiered in August 2019 to positive reviews (including from The Hollywood Reporter), but one source close to the streamer recently characterized it as an "expensive disappointment."

That's a big shame - I enjoyed it.

I never thought of it as a children's show. Just because it is puppets does not mean it has to be only for children. But I am pleased it won the well-deserved Emmy.

I enjoyed it also. First the OA now The Dark Crystal. Geez.

What is also worrying that historically at least in the UK so many great shows need a couple of seasons to find their audience. This approach means so many potentially classic shows never get thant chance anymore.
