Operation Mincemeat

Post by thunder » Thu Jan 16, 2020 10:34 am

As Jason mentioned in this interview at the Star Trek Picard premiere:
https://youtu.be/jak7_iD28gc

He's starting to film Operation Mincemeat next week with Colin Firth. :woot

Here's something I found out about the movie. Wondering if Jason has a small/big part, or if he replaced someone at the last minute... :scratch

I read somewhere that it already had been sold to international distributors, but I can't find the link now.

Here's some facts about the true event that it's based on (SPOILERS!):https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Mincemeat

THAT
is a hella wacky story.
Sir Ian Fleming.
Also how rude to refer that poor homeless dude as a "wastrel" who'd never accomplished anything in life. How did he eat rat poison??

Netflix pre-bought North American and Latin American rights to stream this move. I think Jason is in it, but I'm not sure how big his role is. He hasn't mentioned it much, only once before he filmed it. I don't know if he actually filmed it, but this says he's in it, and so does his IMDb.

The streamer has pre-bought North America and Latin America rights for around $15 million from The King’s Speech producer See-Saw and Cohen Media Group after seeing footage in recent days.
Now, just buy ot for the rest of the world, and we all will be happy...

I just caught some of the 1956 movie 'The Man that Never Was' based on the story on TV last week and boy was it atmospheric. Looking forward to this.

Operation Mincemeat (2022 movie)

Post by Hot Wheels » Tue Aug 17, 2021 1:12 am

IMDb lists this as “completed”; however, no release date is given.

Judging from IMDb’s description (“During WWII, two intelligence officers use a corpse and false papers to outwit German troops.”), this sounds like it could be any genre from war/drama, war/dark comedy, even war/farce.

Jason plays “Admiral (!!) John Godfrey.”

Jason is on the poster:

Maybe his role isn't so small as I feared? :wheee

I hope not, since he’s finally “risen through the ranks”! (OTOH, to have one of his first Naval roles—if not his very first—as an Admiral is pretty impressive!)

Wahey--https://www.slashfilm.com/626602/operat ... -and-more/ says 7 January in the UK and Ireland and 13 January for the Netherlands. They report that Netflix bought the rights for U.S. viewing, which suggests small-screen for us...
This is a fabulous cast (I mean in addition to JI :lol )

Oh goody! Means I keep having to pay Netflix. I keep looking for a reason to stop paying but Stranger Things and the occasional good movie keeps me in.

How’s this for a twist: Admiral Godfrey (the man JI portrays) MAY have been the inspiration of “M”.

It sounds like Jason may have found a back door (or side entrance) into the world of James Bond. 😎
