I don't think it's a bad show but it's very overhyped. It's a bit uneven. It had some very good moments, but I felt there was just too many storylines to focus on, so I didn't really bother to invest in any of them, and it felt like they just managed to scrape the surface.

I'm not sure how much sense I'm able to make right now. The acting is good, but I feel like the characters are a bit on the extreme, so much that I just laugh about it and dont connect with them. They are very stereotyped. The way they have been talking about it in the interviews, that we think we know what their characters are like, but there are so many layers and they all show their humanity in the end. Really? I think I managed to put them in the right box quite early on, and wasn't really suprised by any of them. Most of them were interesting at first, but then nothing really happened.

I agree with you about the trio. It was like their fights didn't have any consequences. When people say hurtful things like that to each other, everything won't just be fine a couple of hours afterwards. I liked Laurie’s monologue in the final episode, but wish there would have been more build up to it.

The Ratliffs. The mom was just the same in every scene, and it got old after a few episodes. It's not that funny people saying stupid things while drunk. Also get a doctor to get new pills, they have doctors in Thailand too. I called that Piper wasn't joining the Buddist temple first time I saw her. I was wondering if Tim might, though. Saxon changed a lot after his brother jerked him off and he had a crush on the English girl who talks like a self help book. He became less annoying after that. Lochlan didn't have much of a personality. Also all the Ratliff kids; going on vacation with their parents while young adults and all acting quite juvenile for their age, I think. Tim... Jason does a great jo with what he had, but there was a lot of similar scenes. :cafe I kind of wish he didn't give up his phone.

Are there any Thai people in Thailand? How many of them in speaking roles, like... 3?
Gaitok should really not be a security guard, and he is way too good for Mook. And all the other staff at the hotel that was just for comic relief or something

Belinda was probably nice to have there for people who has seen the previous seasons, but I haven't.

I liked Chelsea and Rick in the beginning. But seriously, just go to Bangkok, and Chelsea got really annoying after a while.

Final episode. A bit of a let down. Overhyped, for absolutely no reason. Why are they teasing plot twist ewhen there were none?! Was it edited out or something? Ratliffs. It was quite obvious Tim wouldn't die, because they teased it all the time. I was also quite sure he wouldn't take his family with him either. When Lochlan took the poisonshake, I actually hoped they would have the guts to do it, but no... Belinda and her son blackmailing Greg to give them 5 millions? That didn't make any sense. he has killed his wife, he is a psychopat. He would just have killed them and got rid of their bodies. And as you say: No one cares about homicides in Thailand... But that's the issue witht the whole series. Words and actions doesn't have real consequences. Why am I going to invest in it then?

I'll watch the next season if they bring The Ratliffs back, (as hotel staff, maybe?) :lol I won't bother with the first two.

Sorry if I'm too critical, but it's much easier to remember the things I didn't like.

What I find fascinating about all this as someone who did not see the series; (but just read the articles and your comments) was that it seems so overhyped. It seems that the writing let it down with plot holes you all mentioned weeks ago. Also Jason seemed to have taken a hit over this show. Considering the time he spent away from home was it all really worth it? I cannot answer that.

The fact that all this happened and in the end you were not that impressed makes me feel rather sad. :bag:

I don't think Jason has taken a hit because of it, he did a great job, and his storyline is one of the best. Because of a lot more attention around this, Jason has got a lot more attention, and with that comes negative attention too (which were mostly BS).

He'll be fine.

Also, the show is quite good, and I appreciate someone trying to make something different every once in a while. It's good and a little extraordinary. It's just not "mindblowingly amazing" and "something we have never seen before", like it's hyped up to be.

Agree.
There's a lot of attention around Jason. That might give him some recognition & awards maybe. And hopefully some good jobs. He was doing nothing since filming white lotus, so it will be good for him to have a proper job. And hopefully he'd have options to choose from, that would really be worthy in his perception.
Fingers crossed.

The only hit he took was with this unfortunate comment about double standards, but it's already taken care of. Few more tweets and posts from him, and all the sins will be forgotten.
It's internet and showbiz, he needs to surf on a wave, because it doesn't last long. But I'm pretty sure he's very aware of the fleeting nature of it.

Fabian was saying the Resort has the best Wellness Program in the world. BUT- they should have hired a BETTER therapist!. Amerita totally missed the chance to help a patient in a mental health crisis and told him to wait an hour. Zion saw/heard the exchange and should have volunteered to wait his turn. He didn't want the session anyway. But then there would be no climatic ending nuke.gif

As a person who works in helping business, you don't send away a ready patient to wait, just because someone demanding says so. It's about healthy boundaries, you can't be available for patients 24/7. And you don't have colorful wristbands like you have in ER, to send mentally disturbed ones to some emergency hotlines. Emotional wounds don't bleed, sadly.
Besides I don't think a spa advisor is a trained mediation specialist or a proper therapist. If she was we would have totally different story then. 😀

As a pediatrician, in the outpatient setting like my offices, we DO see patients out of order all the time. It's called 'TRIAGE'.
When patients comes in with respiratory distress, significant pain, etc, they will be seen immediately. People with less urgent problems understand and will wait.
And YES, we have to be available to patients 24/7. After hours thru phone calls when we make a decision what to do to help the patients who called the best way we could. We will not be permitted to practice medicine without a way to provide a 24 hrs coverage.

I have to say that after the concern the therapist showed to Frank then to see her ignore and push him off - an obviously greatly distressed guest who she had seen before and knows he needs help - to have a stress session with a young adult that obviously looked happy……. just did not make any sense at all. In fact as they showed the bodies in the water I blurted out “and the stupid therapist could have prevented it all….”

Some of the other things - I can suspend my disbelieve (like the drug effects of Lorazapam - or the suicide fruit effects (or lack thereof) but I thought the lack of action on the part of the Therapist was a slap in the face of anyone in the industry - it did not ring true at all for me.

I did like the depiction of the three friends - unlike others here - I felt the truth in the relationships - I found it fascinating. The Mook character was really a waste of that poor actress/singer. It felt like a terrible portrayal of temptation - would the Security Guard have shot Frank if he was not concerned about losing Mook due to his religious beliefs on non-violence. I felt it was shallow.

Yet overall I loved a lot about the show. I liked most of the story. I did guess the Darth Vader aspect very very early on. Most of the performances were top notch, the scenery was gorgeous! The cinematography was really breathtaking.

Now I think I’ll go have a Pina Colada!

The nice therapist that Belinda hooked up with seemed professional to me! And then she gets rich and dumps him (very interesting since she had the same thing done to her about the spa business dealings - I did think it was an interesting full circle!)
