Abridged, huh? Wonder what the postage from the UK will do to the price.

Helen, usually the postage to the US isn't that bad...
Re: CD Box set audio by Jason
Well, that's good to know. The abridged thing is a concern tho'. I want all of the book read by Jason.
But will settle for less.

I am over the moon since Jason is now on the cover of the books...I want them all. I do have a bit of concern, as you do Helen, about the audios being abridge but there is Jason again so I will probably want them. And as Kj said postage isn't too much.

Re: CD Box set audio by Jason
I think it's pretty typical for audio versions of books to be slightly abridged--I wouldn't worry about that too much. Has anyone compared the length of the recordings with the previous editions?
You've also now made me curious about the U.S. editions of these: was the abridgement different? Why was it felt necessary to use a different actor for the U.S.--legal or union stipulations? Because Jason is certainly easy to understand, even when he's doing the many regional accents of the novels.
(*I just have to say that I wasn't fantastically impressed with his Canadian accent. It was only a couple of lines, and appeared out of nowhere and in contrast to other speakers, but I didn't think it was all that good. Wonder what the Missus thought?*)

The American audio versions of all the HP books were done by Jim Dale vs. Stephen Frye on the British ones. Never understood the reason . . . insert one Brit for another. They were unabridged. GHT if they weren't.

I thought there was another thread for this. Oh well.
This box set, which has previously been tremendously $$$$, can now be bought USED from amazon uk for £39.99 + £2.80 UK delivery. They won't ship to Canada (I tried) so I thought I would post here in case anyone else wants to take a chance on second hand goods.
