Re: Third Episode: SPOILERS
thanx inamac
absolutely, you can read part of Jackson's background by his tatts
very good research on Production's part, and yours, too
what I really like, is that each of the 2hr programs (so far) can stand on its own
it's a continuation of JB life and work, but you don't have to watch the first 2 CH
to follow whats going on in the 2 parts of One Good Turn
(guess it works that way because each book is diff, and diff directors)
Kudos to Ashley Pharoah the screenwriter (I thought Ashley was a girls name) He is terrific

Thank you Char, wonderful as always
Love the tattoos on his manly arm- they look very real. I wonder how they are applied- the make up artist did a nice job.

Re: Third Episode: SPOILERS
Angel they are applied as a decal...then smoothed out and blended in
(that's how they were on BH) in the BH close ups you could see the edges...
these actually look better, guess you could airbrush them on, but that might
be time consuming
I would like to be the make up artist that applies Jackson's tatts

Re: Third Episode: SPOILERS
Thanks for those fab screen caps, Char.
This was, as you say, a very moving episode - such humorous and touching scenes. (and some of both)
The tatts are interesting. I love 'em, but it's curious as Kate Atkinson makes a real point in the book of saying that Jackson does NOT have tatts. But then Jackson's military background and mentality are portrayed much more through detailed internal narrative, which is clearly not as possible on screen, so you need an immediate visual indication instead. Tatts (especially specific regimental ones etc) tell an instant story.

that's an interesting train of thought, laurielove...
I don't remember the books saying Jackson DOES NOT have tatts...need to go back
and browse thru, which I did for One Good Turn

Re: Third Episode: SPOILERS
we only got a couple of seconds of shirtlessness this time around. And nearly at the end.
Well, the shirtlessness did what it was supposed to in the first two eps. It got eveyone's attention.
And less this time around leaves you wanting for more . . . 3 more eps. to go.

Re: Third Episode: SPOILERS
I can't remember if it's in CH or OGT - it's somewhere where he's compared to someone else who does have tatts and it says something like - Jackson, on the other hand, did not have tattoos.kjshd05 wrote:that's an interesting train of thought, laurielove...

I remember it because I read it at the time when the first trailer came out and there were the tatts for us all to see, so that stuck out a bit. (the line, I mean. What else would I mean? )

laurielove, here is the link where Jason talks about biting the guys nose.

"Could you talk us through a couple of your favourite scenes you've shot so far, moments that stick in your mind?
I like all the physical stuff because it's fun and I remember it more vividly. I remember trying to bite Brian McCardie's nose off. That was a laugh - blood. He was garrotting me (which reminded me of my favourite scenes from Godfather 2) and then I turned around and tried to bite his nose off - and it was all we could do to stop laughing our heads off. Just blood spurting everywhere from the mouth - it was hysterical. And how much blood would come from your nose? There was much discussion about how much a nose would bleed if we bit it."
Re: Third Episode: SPOILERS
It's worth re-reading the book for the nose-biting scene, because Jackson is having this wonderful internal dialogue about what he advises women to do if attacked by someone bigger and more powerful than they are. (Was a bit disappointed by the casting of Brian McCardie in the role because you really need someone built like Dave Prowse.)
Can I also point those who've not found it at the twitterstream - just go into any twitter account (you donlt have to be signed up) and put #casehistories in the search box... http://twitter.com/#!/search/%23casehistories
Gem from Sunday night: We don't want Keith Allen with his shirt off; we want Jason Isaacs!

Re: Third Episode: SPOILERS
However, he's playing that blowhard, drunken actor just as I imagined him--thoroughly unlikable!
I do like the repartee between Jackson and his secretary. She's growing on me.

Re: Third Episode: SPOILERS
me too Helen I keep telling Kate I really like the dynamics between Jackson and his secretary, DEBRA (not Debbie)
Re: Third Episode: SPOILERS
I've only seen him in Bodies and Robin Hood. Has Keith Allen ever played a likeable character?Helen8 wrote:However, he's playing that blowhard, drunken actor just as I imagined him--thoroughly unlikable!

Re: Third Episode: SPOILERS
Well, this is the first I've seen of him, so unlikable fits him.
And Terrence Smith was supposed to be a hulking no-brain. I could take down the actor playing him here.

Re: Third Episode: SPOILERS
I'm assuming that 'Bodies' here is a misprint for 'Brodie' - however, while he was part of the loose group of comedy actors working on 'Comic Strip Presents', he did play a Bodie clone in their send-up of 'The Professionals' - so he has form in comic detective drama.fruitbat wrote:I've only seen him in Bodies and Robin Hood.
