I do believe that the more one understands, the greater the enjoyment one gets.And I do want to say that your review Bellatrix has been the most thoughtful and insightful of the ones I have read so far.
I know, I know. There have been countless times I've been in theatres and cinemas where something utterly horrible or tragic has happened or been said and the audience find it amusing. I don't know if it is as you say, that they take things at face value or that it is the nervous giggling of those that don't understand. Possibly both. Or perhaps they are just horrible people!It kind of reminded me of when I went to see Cabaret and the Master of Ceremonies was making fun of Jewish people - I was almost in tears I thought it was so sad - and yet most of the audience was laughing because they could only peel the onion back so far (or not at all) ................ they take the events unfolding at face value - not realizing that nearly all plays require some kind of analysis to get the full value of what the author was trying to say.
Plus, I did a stint as a freelance journalist (although I reviewed mostly videogames!), so old habits die hard! No honestly, trust me - you will see past the knee-wobbling gorgeousness and forget that he normally turns your spine to custard! I defy you to find anything attractive about that accent and the clothing! And let's not forget the overall dinge. (Jason, you may be lovely but a lady has to have standards!) LOL!That being said I do hope that I can see past Jason's adorable facial hair and get the full value out of this story! Being to close to the stage may have it's drawbacks.........................
Ewwwww! How utterly horrid! I got splattered with goo a few times when sitting at the front for Circus of Horrors! I've also been presented with fake severed limbs due to being silly enough to risk being picked on in the front row! Last week I went to see Kings of Swing - front row seats, neck ache...and a perfect view up the singers' nostrils! I would not recommend it! However, at the Trafalgar, I don't think this will be a problem - I think you will be safe from Jason's nose hair et al!!!I only sat in the front row once (I tend not to like it because I've had two whiplash injuries and my neck gets stiff when I have to look up for long periods.) The downside to that was I actually had some of the actor's sweat hit me. I was a tad grossed out.

That was an early performance though and someone came out and told them the actors were still rehearsing between the matinee and eve show.
